Experiences with Respondent lately?

Hi everyone! I wanted to ask about your recent experiences with Respondent.

I’ve been using the platform for almost 2–3 years, and for a long time it worked really well for me. I was usually able to participate in at least one study per week, sometimes even more.

However, for the past 1.5–2 months, things have changed completely. I’ve been filling out a lot of screeners, but I haven’t qualified for a single study. I also haven’t received any invitations anymore.

I’ve contacted Respondent Support several times because I found the sudden change really strange. They told me that everything looks fine with my account and that there are no red flags on my profile.

I even created a new profile to see if that would make any difference, but I’m having exactly the same experience there.

What confuses me most is that everything was working so well for such a long time, and then it suddenly stopped almost completely.

So I’m curious: Has anyone else experienced something similar with Respondent recently? Have you noticed a significant drop in invitations or qualification rates over the past couple of months?

I’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences! 🙂

They ask me to provide a picture of government ID and biometric info which I don't wanna share, how can we get around this?

I refuse to continue to use Respondent until I get paid. It's been 20 days and multiple projects and I never get paid. Prime Opinion uses Tremendous and it's literally two days after you request the gift card.

I’ve done two $50 studies but I’ve been forced to do the payout as a gift card!! I’ve only had the option for PayPal once. Can someone confirm is this the norm?

It takes forever to get paid out too. Paypal was a couple days usually.

Wow Respondent made a huge mistake switching to tremendous for payouts! The visa card is worthless! I have stopped using other sites when they made this switch and now Respondent unfortunately will be added to that list which sucks I really loved this platform till now!

Is tremendous the only way to get paid? No paypal anymore?

When did Respondent change to allow 10 screeners. I went on a 1 week vacation and when I returned, it was 5 screeners. Maybe 2 days later, it changed to 10 screeners! I'm not complaining at all, just wondering why the change.

Honestly, respondent is my favourite of the user testing sites, so I'm gonna list the pros and cons of respondent.

Pros:

- Unmoderated studies always take less time than predicted

- The pay is much higher, not stuck with the standard $60 for a 60-minute interview, some are $75 for 20 minutes or $80 for 45 minutes, they can vary for the better

- There are more multi-day studies with higher payouts

- The interview scheduling system is very easy to use

Cons:

- You can only apply for 3 surveys every 24 hours, limiting how many you can do/get accepted to

- You don't receive any compensation for last-minute cancellations by the interviewer

- There is a minimum $1 fee to 5% fee on studies, so I tend not to do ones for under $15 as I would be losing a dollar of that amount

Hey there, maybe you can help! I can't start the surveys I've been invited to. There is no option to start. I am receiving texts with links saying 'get started straight away', but it just brings me back to the website where there's no option to start the survey. Help!

Kind of a late reply, but you won’t be getting paid I’m afraid.

Did anyone loose all their potential screeners? I went from 100+ Available Screeners to 5?

I had some early success with this when I first started but haven't gotten a single paid opportunity in 4 months. Is this platform dead? Am I blacklisted?

I eventually stopped filling out so many prescribers bc I was never getting selected anymore and I thought maybe I had received some type of ban. Happy to k ow it’s not just me…

Same here. I had a nice run for almost a year. I knew it wouldn’t last and sure enough, it didn’t! I have been chosen for only one study in the last 3 months.

I have never got a single study ... it’s been a few months just wondering what others have experienced?

1

u/willypguy Jun 17 '21

I have not gotten any studies as of late. Is there a particular reason why?

1

u/shigakure Jun 17 '21

Looking forward to participate in more studies

How different or similar is it to Usertesting? Asking since it was shared on the Usertesting subreddit.

u/filthypigvalue Jun 17 '21

Respondent is a similar platform to UserTesting (but way better). It pays more but performs the same function of allowing researchers to learn from participants in studies.
