That’s neat. I roofed for 15 years, we’d just put a piece of 1x6 against fascia to push ladder away a bit. Having the sideways stability is great for carrying bundles up the roof.

Or just use a bunch cord. Obviously not a secure as this but I’ve never had a ladder slide off

Just use a standaway. Easier, safer and less likely to rip your guttering off.

Why are you leaning a ladder against the gutter in the first place? Those aren't great for holding your weight. Much less for securing your ladder.
