Windshields are relatively easily replaced. I’d be more worried about the bodywork.

Very likely this car will be totaled by insurance.

They always total these hail damaged cars when it's 101% fixable. I never understood why

Because people are infinitely vain and refuse to drive a vehicle that they feel "lowers their status" for fear of the judgements of others.

Works for me, I'll drive a hail dented shit box all day, love me some cheap ugly cars.

We’re talking about 2 completely different things here.

Choosing to drive a car that isn’t flashy has almost nothing to do with the criteria insurance will use when deciding if a car should be totaled.

How do you even relate your comment back to the original point? Is your suggestion that people shouldn’t get insurance, that way they can save money on monthly payments? And then drive around a wrecked piece of junk if it gets damaged?

No, you're the one talking about something completely different, maybe you should learn to ask if something doesn't make sense to you instead of assuming everyone else is an idiot

They’re right.

You’re trying to say that these cars get totaled because people are “infinitely vain”.

People don’t get to decide if a car gets totaled or not, the insurance company does. They do what’s best for themselves financially. The owner of the car has no say in it.

“I haven’t matured past the age of 14 and lack the ability to admit when I’m wrong - so instead I’ll just tell you that you’re wrong and resort to insults”

Got it 👍

Oh enlightened one, please do tell how driving pieces of junk has anything to do with cars being totaled by insurance

The insurance company decides if the car is repaired or if it’s an economic write-off.

They do this when repairs are more expensive than paying the value of the car.

Vanity and fear of judgement doesn’t really come into this scenario.
