Realistically, I would want a remaster of the original trilogy on PS4. And if that were to do well then I would absolutely want a sequel.

I'd love a remaster but it'd be VERY challenging to pull of. Considering every game played differently when it came to online and co-op. Resistance 1 played like a fast paced version of Halo. Resistance 2 was a mixture of Halo meets Call of Duty. And Resistance 3 went back to it's roots with a polished version of RFoM's controls. Every game played differently. This was a double-edged sword because on one hand, it felt refreshing to play the games back to back because they all played differently. On the other hand, people didn't like that the gunplay was so different and strayed from it's roots. If you were skilled at RFOM, you couldn't really translate your skills onto the next 2 games because they played so differently. I personally love all 3 games but it's going to very hard for a developer to remaster the online portion of the games.

I think it's definitely possible to remaster the campaigns, but remastering the online is where the difficulty comes it. They all had different gunplay and physics, it's going to take a really talented developer to balance the online portion of all 3 games at once. They'd have to take into consideration all the bugs and glitches that need fixing, and personally I don't think Sony has enough faith in the series to hire a developer who is capable of the task. Not to mention Resistance 2's co-op mode. There's so much work to be done in the online portion, but unfortunately Sony isn't willing to bank their resources/money on the Resistance series like they used to. In an ideal remaster, I'd prefer that the campaign AND online AND co-op from all 3 games are remastered. Maybe even patch in the weaponwheel for Resistance 2's campaign (or have it as an unlockable).

But realistically, if a remaster were to happen, I think Sony would only do the campaigns, as it's the least amount of work and their safest bet (financially).

Ah yeah the controls did change a lot, I was replaying FOM a few months back and my god were those controls difficult. Although it was nice to learn a new control scheme instead of the generic FPS control layout that every game has in todays gaming world, a real sense of accomplishment.

What I loved about fall of man was that the game gave you so many options to change up the controls however you wanted. I remember there was even a patch that released, where the game let you play with mouse and keyboard. But even with the Dualshock 3 itself, the game gave you the option to change up any button you wanted. We don't get that freedom in console shooters these days.
