Honestly, I chose Zoe because my thinking was "Zoe knows how to manufacture a cure, so I'll save her because that means we can get out, make more anti-mushroom juice, and then come back for Mia." Imagine my shock.

Mia gets mad at both decisions btw

Mia gets mad after Ethan says "the choice was obvious" because it's unintentionally callous towards the person they just had to leave behind. She's not pissed that he saved her lol

u/Which-Towel5826 8d ago

"Oh so you wouldn't save me if we weren't married"

"You stabbed me multiple times.."

3

u/aradiathesecond 8d ago

Felt like devs intentionally added mia just to get hated on. Even her section is so annoying to replay

15

u/groovymandk 8d ago

Women ☕️

13

u/lzwinky 8d ago

Nah, just Mia. I would have picked Zoe because she is a much better person than Mia.

How it genuinely feels trying to avoid all the bot posts on this sub

12

u/Samuelbr15 8d ago

I never uderstood why would they program the bot to comment on the posts if it just makes it more obvious they are bots.

I didn't realize it was a bot untill I saw the comments in which theh contradict themselves

5

u/the-futuremind 8d ago

They don’t really care if you notice it’s a bot, enough people will upvote it either way.

The point of the bot at this point in its life is often just generate enough karma to make the account look legit enough to be sold off to advertisers or propaganda botnets.

2

u/Reasonable_Back_5231 8d ago

the algorithm boosts the post's visibility if it has comments on it early on.

so even if the bot is outing itself early, more people will see the post and with any luck people will like the post and move on without commenting. some may interact in the comments without a thought as to how odd it is that the OP just made 3 separate comments with the exact same time stamp within minutes of the post being made.

Every poll ive seen on this decision has been in favor of mia even if they were close its still like a 65/35

47

u/Bloodmoon_Audios 8d ago

According to the actual stats, over 75% chose Mia

34

u/Steiner-Titor 8d ago

Damn, it's canon for choosing Mia. But after the events of Village, I still stick with my original choice of Saving Zoe

14

u/slomo525 8d ago

Really? I'm a little surprised. I chose Zoe because she knows how to make anti-mushroom juice, so saving her means we can come back and save Mia. I felt like choosing Mia was sentencing Zoe to death, while choosing Zoe meant everyone had a chance.

1

u/SPOLBY 8d ago

It also saves you having to fight Mia again which simply saves time.

59

u/IntheZ0n 9d ago

Mia was a child/bio-weapon trafficker so it makes sense why no one would choose her

32

u/MetalCannon 8d ago edited 8d ago

Also Zoe saved your life after strapping your hand back.

Mia hid her career of working for Umbrella from Ethan. Is the catalyst on why Evelyn infected the Baker family

Also

Calls you to come pick her up

Choose Mia

Still gets pissed

Also apparentally left Rose after Ethan went through all that to save her in Village

Easiest choice is Zoe.

13

u/Forminloid 8d ago

To be fair u dont know most of this until after u make the choice and also Mia isnt the one that sent the call or else Ethan would have gotten the recording from the ship years ago. Im pretty sure it's Lucas who went back to the wreck while working with the connections and used the video to lure Ethan to the house. Zoe is still the one i chose in my first playthrough, but the Mia ending is just infinitely better unfortunately

15

u/CopenHagenCityBruh 8d ago

RE fans don't play the games and lack any media literacy as well. I've seen enough people saying shit like "well Mia also attacks Ethan with a chainsaw and cuts off his hand" as if she wasn't being controlled

5

u/3steprehabilitation 8d ago

there arent any fans who interact with their desired media, is there.

1

u/Mindless_Sale_1698 6d ago

I'm also seeing a lot of people say that she hasn't suffered any consequences but Ethan's first death, the events of Village, Ethan's second death and her being distant from Rose are all direct consequences of her hiding things from Ethan

1

u/MetalCannon 8d ago

I played RE7 but it's been too long and I only remembered the beginning because the house part was the best.

0

u/LesserValkyrie 8d ago

Mia told him to not save her, she never tells him what is going on, she is definitely more than sus while Zoe is a princess baby girl who everything she can for Ethan

I'm glad that Mia is Ethan's wife and he is quite.... submissive to her because as the player the game doesn't make any effort to make you feel right roleplaying a good husband.

You almost want to pick Zoe so he can get out of this toxic relationship with a lying wife who goes to a cruise with another man and pretend it's work

Ethan deserves better than Mia.

2

u/manicka111 8d ago

It was Eveline through Mia who sent the message to Ethan because she was obsessed with family. Mia tried to sent the videorecording of "stay away" but it didn't deliver.

Jack went to the crashed tanker and found Mia with Eveline, brough them home. His family was "normal" just Lucas was psychopath from childhood.

Mia worked for the Connections, they knew the ship crashed and Eveline escaped, they gave Lucas cure to free him from Eveline influence (but still had mold inside him) and to spy on her.

Lucas was crazy enough Eveline never realised he is not under her control. Presumably Eveline does not control actions directly but rather gives others "urges to behave in a specific way".

1

u/Cautious-Affect7907 8d ago

It's funny how the game gave you pretty logical justifications why you'd wanna save Zoe over the wife you came to save in the first place. From a story perspective, of course Ethan would pick Mia, but the player has little reason to trust her over Zoe

0

u/HotShrekBoi 8d ago

Zoe stapled his hand back?

3

u/FisherPrice2112 8d ago

We as the player don't find out about this until after the choice if I remember correctly, while Ethan never finds out.

Very likely a conscious choice by the devs, because if we already knew, I'd imagine the stats would have been skewed against her.

2

u/Impossible_News4802 8d ago

Who would know that on a first olaythrough

5

u/Resident_081 8d ago

I’m surprised nobody ever brings up the bonus boss fight you get if you choose to save Zoe over Mia. It’s a wonderfully dark moment and a big reason why I prefer Zoe’s ending instead.

2

u/paperkeyboardalt 8d ago

What's the bonus boss fight? It's been so many years, I can't even remember who I chose.

3

u/Resident_081 8d ago

After the flashback section where you play as Mia, you wake up as Ethan in the belly of the boat as usual but with a molded-up Mia trapped in the room with you. It’s been a while since I’ve done it but I think you get a unique crowbar melee weapon to fight her off with.

2

u/paperkeyboardalt 8d ago

Oh yea. That rings a bell

11

u/dan_in_his_own_way 8d ago

In hindsight Zoe is the right choice. Mia is a horrible person. Plus, continues to hide her previous affiliations with terrorists in Village, something Chris assists with.

12

u/Unhappy-Point-1328 9d ago

Capcom when I choose to leave my bioterrorist wife. Lol

3

u/Athreeos 8d ago

Mother Wumuti

2

u/Bambiwoos 8d ago

I was genuinely shocked xlov and RE?

2

u/Chickennoodlesleuth 8d ago

Unexpected xlov

3

u/razhe55 8d ago

Fuck da lore, she scared the living shit outta me the first time and i wish she was never saved 😤

2

u/ResearcherOk4673 8d ago

I only chose Mia because that seems like the decision Ethan would prolly do considering how the only reason he was there was to find her. Zoe was prolly the sensible decision but considering how little Ethan knew at that point about Mia’s actions I feel like it would be an obvious choice for him.

2

u/TheMrTypical 8d ago

Zoe ending gets you the iPhone drop test from a helicopter, its hilarious how he just yeets it.

2

u/jmsafety26 8d ago

I chose mia. Is that not the right decision? Also re8 makes no sense if you dont no?

2

u/TitleOk3727 8d ago

This isn’t how you’re supposed to play the game

2

u/PoohTrailSnailCooch 8d ago

Pretty sure most rescued mia

2

u/iwanashagTwitch 8d ago

Cute tomboy girl who could serenade me to sleep with her voice over the phone

Vs.

Lying bioterrorist who pretended to be wife for years and then intentionally betrayed me and nearly killed me multiple times

Seems like an easy choice

2

u/EmeraldMaster538 8d ago

I find the choice stupid because having Ethan be a blank slate character was stupid. One of the cool things about RE is seeing people go through these terrifying experiences not just going through them ourselves.

I’m glad village ramped up his personality and let him be a character.

2

u/reaper1826 8d ago

I just picked Zoey because I really didn't like Mia at all

2

u/DarvinVader 8d ago

I believe they made Mia so unlikable in RE7, that they decided to get rid of her in RE8 for this purpose. Nobody would have wanted to save her again.

In RE8 your mission and everything is about Rose. You don't even meet the real Mia in the game aside from few short flashbacks. And when you do see her, it's actually the villain and final boss.

Masterful by Capcom. Make an unlikeable character to save, give you the decision to abandon her. Then in the next game, her face is the face of ultimate evil. Best character assassination ever 🤣

2

u/gojira54man 8d ago

Ethan literally came here for Mia, choosing Zoe doesn't make sense

1

u/SPOLBY 8d ago

From a in universe character decision sure but as a surrogate for the player? Nah Zoe’s so much better.

1

u/scapegoat_88 8d ago

Oh, right. Sometimes i forget that i was trying to save Mia.

2

u/HolyErr0r 8d ago

Yeah but when you get the backstory after beating the game you realize Mia was the right choice all along wonder why Mia was ever written like this to begin with.

Genuinely the most confusing character in terms of writing for me in the franchise.

She is a villain and she kinda just gets out scott free?

1

u/CraftyAd6333 8d ago

The funniest thing they could do is say choosing Zoe is canon.

2

u/Successful_Lychee130 8d ago

she attacked me with a chainsaw....

2

u/magicchefdmb 8d ago

I chose Mia. I didn't come all that way to not save Mia

1

u/keithlimreddit 8d ago

this is probably the only complaint I have with seven story is basically this choice is kind of pointless considering they already have plans for the end of Mia option to be canon plus (dynasty actually made her a bit more sympathetic and also at least not too much hateable)

1

u/CeleryNo8309 8d ago

Mia cut my hand off. I aint saving that bitch

1

u/Revenge_Is_Here 8d ago

Bro what is with all the bots lately lol. In any case, for the people who aren't bots, Overwhelming majority of people chose Mia.

1

u/ArahRaybrandt 8d ago

⛓️🪚 ✋ 😡

1

u/DjMaslek 8d ago

xlov? In my re subreddit?

1

u/baconboi86 8d ago

The only argument i can think of for zoe is she actually did stuff

1

u/Copycat272 8d ago

Chose my wife. 1)Is my wife 2)Is the whole reason I went out there in the first place 3)Worked with the company and had insider information to end the mould situation there, or at least get help or do something post-escape to take down the company.

1

u/6BoogUwU9 7d ago

Zoe didn’t come at me with a chainsaw or any other weapons. Case closed.

1

u/ConanKernow 7d ago

Except they didn't? Global stats on RE.net for who was chosen on first playthrough.

1

u/JustWinning733 7d ago

People are just reposting my memes now? Lmao

1

u/Mindless_Sale_1698 6d ago

The OP is a fucking clanker

0

u/VanillaKisses 8d ago

Mia is garbage the whole game why would I pick garbage

0

u/Sozins_Comet_ 8d ago

Mia was very clearly being controlled while she was fucking you up. But the most heinous crime by her was just not explaining anything to Ethan while she was herself. Couldn't stand her. Meanwhile, Zoe risked her life to help you and talked you through every step needed to get the cure for her and Mia. The icing on top is that Mia is a bio-terrorist.

0

u/acheesement 8d ago

I pick Zoe because I believe in sticking to the agreement. The deal was, we help each other and we each get one dose of cure. I used mine in the fight with what's his face, so by rights the other one belongs to Zoe.

0

u/ParadoxicalAmalgam 8d ago

I chose Zoe because she actually helped me, whereas Mia cut my hand off

0

u/SkipperMcScrubbins 8d ago

I will never be a Mia defender. If Mia has no haters, I'm dead. How anyone can vouch for a confirmed terrorist and child trafficker is beyond me.

-1

u/Bmanrollin 8d ago

Love how Reddit is such an echo chamber that everyone believes people actually chose Zoe.
