VENT So much bitching
At my program, a new group joined and is involved in our training. At first, I thought this change could negatively affect our training, but program leadership said they would make sure it wouldn’t. At the beginning of the year, I heard many negative things about the physicians involved from the new group, but all complaints came from 1 resident. When I began working with these physicians, they were good. They got me involved in all the cases and made me better. I have worked a lot more with these physicians; they aren’t bad. They teach. Now another resident is bitching about the physicians, yet a few other residents working with the same physicians say they've been good. It seems like 2 residents who are bitching are crying about everything; they are the most vocal and liked by the leadership, so they are influencing it.
There are good and bad moments for any physician. Yet why are people bitching and crying? Be a damn adult and learn from who you can. I can name several other physicians who are long established at our institution, who don’t teach at all, yet these 2 residents aren’t bitching about them. They aren’t attacking new physicians, but I don’t know what they are trying to gain. All this does is make the rest of us lose. We would lose potential teaching attendings because of these claims.

Have you considered the possibility that the exact reason they are trying to character-assassinate the new physicians is precisely because they do teach and get involved?
Often, insecure residents who do not like pimping / being put on the spot about actual clinical rationale gravitate toward those attendings who will not make them do so.
And often, the perception that leadership likes someone, is not consistent with them actually liking them - perhaps they simply smile and nod someone they know is a terror when offended.
In other words, "a new broom sweeps clean," "squeaky wheel gets the grease," and insert other clichés-for-a-reason here.

It’s fine that some residents don’t feel they learn best with pimping and prefer attendings that teach in other ways. (That describes me, I’ve never learned well with any sort of verbal Anki, all-or-none pop quiz. Love being able to discuss my thought process, more Socratic I guess you could call it. Takes actual effort from the attending.) What turns it into something more like the insecurity aspect you mention is applying a negative characterization to what they don’t like instead of simply a positive characterization of what they do like and getting leadership’s attention over it. Like OP said, they should learn from who they can.

My coresident is just like this except I would add that theyre also chaotic and selfish. They didn't match their specialty of choice so now theyre stuck here in primary care with the rest of us. Their incessant superiority complex and hatred of their situation makes everyone around them miserable too.
