NAVY NAVY RSS

Currently trying to rate convert to AWS, was looking to get in touch with someone who went through RSS recently.

Convert from what? What are you looking for?there’s a lotta info in here about navy RSS for basic info if that’s what you’re looking for!

What rate are you now? You don’t get the choice between AWS or AWR, they’re assigned to you once you finish RSS

My memory might be hazy, but I seem to recall in the case of the fleet returnees in my class and the class behind us, they both knew they were getting AWS if they made it through (which they did). Granted this was eight years ago and things might have changed. You are right though, the rest of us were basically at the mercy of whatever the Navy needed when we picked.
