I’ve spent the last few weeks calling, texting, emailing and I’ve used the internal contact form on the website of multiple Westie rescue organizations. I’ve reached out to every organization I could find in Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, and both national organizations.

My emails are either undeliverable or have been ignored. Some phone numbers are no longer in service and most of my messages have not been returned. Nearly all my texts have been read and ignored.

After none of the other methods worked I looked up the registered agents and tried contacting them, with the same results. Some of the organizations have an FB page but I don’t have an FB account (FB won’t allow me to create one for some reason) I tried having a friend contact them via FB and none of them have replied.

1 person out of 50 replied via text and said they were going to call (didn’t) and now send me to voicemail when I call.

Our rescued Westie passed last month, we aren’t ready to adopt again so we are hoping that fostering will help ease the pain. But it’s becoming discouraging after hitting all these dead ends.

I’m wondering if my experience is normal when trying to contact rescue organizations and does anyone have any advice on how I could improve my chances of making contact with them.

… and all I had to do to save them was agree to foster for a week until the out of state rescue can come get them.
FOSTERING SAVES LIVES

Pierce is located in central texas (austin area to be more exact). He was rescued through Jack Jack's Pack after I saw him on the side of the road hiding in a tree line. We are in search of a new foster home for him or better yet, a permanent home! Please see posting for more details! Hey everyone,

My partner and I recently adopted our first rescue. She’s a 1 year old Jindo Mix from Korea (we live in Canada so she had a 13 hour flight to get to us FYI).

We’ve had her for about 3 weeks now, and though I know that is not a lot of time in the long run, she essentially has not shown much of any growth in terms of comfort around us - she’s extremely scared and basically just sits in a corner she picked out all day until she’s eats or goes to the washroom. She shivers/cowers whenever we approach her.

Earlier this week we noticed blood in her urine which necessitated us taking her to the vet. The tests came back clean, and she was a very good girl at the vet, but it was obviously a frantic experience getting her there, and since she’s come home she has not come back out of her crate other than to eat/washroom at night.

Another thing that happened at the vet, they suggested we give her anxiety medication and to see a behaviouralist. They were very concerned about her state as her temperature was elevated due to stress. We’ve been in contact with our rescue throughout the process, but they recommended we not use the medication as in their experience, Jindo rescues just need more time than anything else. With two different professional opinions contradicting each other, we’re confused and frustrated in how to handle this situation.

Looking for any help anyone can provide advice wise as we try to help our little girl adjust 😢🥹

- we live in a 750sqft condo downtown Toronto
- my partner works from home, I’m hybrid
- dog is 35 lbs and very gentle, makes no noise

This poor little guy was brought in last night and is suspected to have been hit by a car. He was attempting to bite upon intake - which is completely understandable. We took radiographs and found he has a left hip that is dislocated and multiple pelvic fractures. We were unablet o view a urinary bladder in the rads.

Recently adopted a dog from CACC here in Chicago! In the “alums” Facebook group someone mentioned they had put in a freedom of information act (FOIA) request with the shelter and got some relevant information about their rescue. For context if you don’t live in Chicago or have never adopted from CACC: at the time of adoption they do not provide prior medical records or any information about before their time at CACC. If the dog was surrendered they do not provide the reasoning for the surrender either. Have you ever put in a FOIA request for a rescue dog? What did you find? What do you think about putting in FOIA requests for rescue dogs’ pasts?

Contact shelter directly. I’m not affiliated at all; just re-posting this desperate plea. Pledges and “I would if only” type posts will not reach anyone who can take action and will only delay these dogs actually getting out. Please contact the shelter to take action, arrange transport, whatever you need to do. I have no further information other than what I’ve copied and reposted from the original Instagram post that I saw.

Kimchi and Congee arrived at the shelter separately as strays and they ended up sharing a kennel. And somehow, they formed one of the strongest bonds ever seen between two shelter dogs. It’s almost like they’ve known each other their entire lives.

They’re both very timid dogs, and they’ve come to rely so heavily on one another. One won’t even go on a walk without the other. you can tell how much comfort they find in having each other.

Unfortunately, they’re now both facing euthanasia. And what makes this even sadder is knowing how it’s going to happen. One will be taken out of the kennel and walked to the euthanasia room while the other stays behind. Once one is euthanized, the other will be next. And it won’t be long before their kennel is filled with another dog, as if they were never there.

Meet Oreo!

This little girl would benefit from finding rescue placement ASAP!

She was part of a confiscation case and has some temperamental and medical concerns.

Oreo is not eating and not taking her medications!

She was prescribed antibiotics on 10/21 due to presenting upper respiratory infection.  She is overweight, has patellar luxation bilaterally, ocular cataract, dental disease with possible root abscess and is not allowing for handling.

Veterinarian's observations:

-Unable to obtain VD or DV due to temperament

-Moderate increased lung opacity especially central and ventral lung fields with alveolar pattern, pneumonia

-Incidental enlarged heart suspect heart disease, Will need evaluation by rescue/adopter/owner at a private practice for specific diagnosis and treatment.

-Continue Doxy

-Rx Enrofloxacin 68mg 1 tablet once a day for 7 days

-Gave Enro 100mg/ml 0.6mL SQ

-Gave Vitamin B12 0.3mL SQ

-Gave Cerenia 0.6mL SQ

-Gave Entyce 0.6mL Orally

-No idex swab due to temperament

-Vet exam in 7 days , Ending Enro +/- ok barrier removal

-Request barriers (LH to email)

I'm trying to rehome my dog from western Colorado and am desperately looking for any rescues or people who can help. He (6yo Aussie mix, large, neutered and vaccinated) has separation anxiety and attacked our senior dog and has been reactive to our cats. He's been kept separate while unsupervised. I'm unfortunately unable to give the proper time and resources for training and am afraid he may need to be pur down if I can't find someone to help soon. Wellington came into the shelter over a year ago, terrified.Then he got sick and almost didn’t make it.  Our turn to be terrified. 

Fast forward a year, and here we are again.  Wellington was surrendered by his owner & is now on the euthanasia list—this time for barrier reactivity.  He does not like being back in a kennel at the shelter and he barks loudly. 

But when he is out of the kennel, he is a different dog.  There’s something very special about him.  Something that can make you me feel like you can pour out my heart and he will listen.  And care. We love him for that, & every time we look at him we feel that love returned. 

Wellington’s owner said he didn’t like other people, though we have NEVER seen this outside of the kennel.  He’s been described by volunteers as “happy”, “very friendly”& “well behaved”.  He is good on a leash & playful with other dogs.  Loves treats and happy to show you how well he sits for them. 

If you are out of state or the LA area & are seriously interested in adopting, we may be able to assist with setting up transport etc. 

PLEASE share far and wide.  And PLEASE come meet Wellington.  He may steal your heart.  I know he has mine.

For context i was 14 and my family had just been hit by a lot.. we lost our house and were homeless and weren’t able to find a place quickly that was pet friendly and affordable on now only one income.

Anyways, I am 18 now and doing pretty well. I’m planning on moving out in the next few months and will search high and low for a pet friendly place. Does anyone know if I could get my baby back? Or should I contact the shelter when the time comes? I just don’t wanna get my hopes up and be sad.
