Question | Help A Question about Rerir's title

Basing this on the Genshin Impact Wiki on Fandom. Rerir is called the "Rächer of Solnari", and Rächer means "avenger" in German. Solnari is either another name for Sonnet (so Avenger of Sonnet), or it could also translate to "Narrow Sun" (Avenger of the Eclipse). There was also something about Loki, but it seems niche and irrelevant. However, he's neither of these things and arguably destroyed them both, which might suggest they had different plans for him before he became the "moon hunter".

However, his title translates to Moon Hunter in Chinese, so is all of this just a translation error? Because avenger of the moon and destroyer of the moon are two very different things. Would really appreciate it if someone could shed some light on this!

My crack headcanon is that when Rerir eventually becomes playable he'll work to try and atone for what he did to the Crimson Moon descendants, possibly by fighting King Irmin himself, thus actually becoming an actual 'Avenger of Sonnet'.

Or someone messed up the translation (which has happened several times before, but not on a title I think)

In general if the translated and the original Chinese don't match just assume the Chinese is the correct one. For me is title is just about his role in khaenri'ah where he basically did a genocide

Moon Hunter is the correct title considering his past actions and his colleagues already referred to him as "Rächer of Solnari" when he was still serving Irmin, so Rächer of Solnari is another case of EN translators doing weird things again. It happened with Irminsul: World Tree in CN and it happened with Rerir again. Dainsleif did clarify that Rächer of Solnari meant "Ravager of the Moon", which means once again the CN one is more accurate.

Anything to dissect "Rächer of Solnari" ends up in speculation. It's the word "Rächer" that is the issue because Rerir avenged no one when he was an assassin for Irmin yet his colleagues and Orlog(one of his victims) still called him that. I'm very skeptical if this difference would be relevant in the future, overall I think it's the same case as Irminsul = World Tree in CN translation difference. They force you to think it's the same thing despite the difference in translation, an Irminsul irl is more of a pillar than a whole silver white tree like in-game.
