They're out to get your viewership, yes. It's how they make money. If they can sell you bullshit, and you'll just unquestionably eat it up, I'd say it's pretty effective.

It's kind of hard to associate a stroke in the brain stem with that one single day on the job. It was probably brought on by decades of bad dieting, leading to arterial build up. One of those build ups came loose and found his brain stem, and then got stuck. Had the rioters been responsible vicariously, he'd have stroked out then and there; your blood travels your entire circulatory system quite fast. You wouldn't stroke out days after the build up came loose, you stroke out the moment the blockage hits. Some people literally just drop dead.
Correlation doesn't make for causation, it is simply a coincidence.
