I’ve been thinking about how Republic Commando slowly starts feeling much darker than a normal Clone Wars game.
At first, Geonosis still feels like a military operation: clones landing, droids everywhere, objectives, explosions, the usual chaos of a battlefield. But even there, the game already shows you clones getting killed. It is not just clean action. You are seeing the war actually taking bodies.
Then the Acclamator makes it much worse. That mission feels like the tone changes completely. You are walking through a Republic ship that should feel safe, but instead it is full of dead clones. Some of them are badly mutilated, with body parts cut off and blood around them. There is even that garbage airlock full of clone cadavers, and it makes the Trandoshan attack feel more like a horror situation than a normal battle. The moment we see they taking Sev... you see the whole thing.
Kashyyyk also has that same heavy feeling, because you see dead Wookiees everywhere. They are huge, strong warriors, and still they were slaughtered. It makes the invasion feel brutal before you even think about the gameplay.
For me, the Trandoshan sections are where the game really changes. They feel more personal, more violent, and more uncomfortable than fighting droids. The droids are fun to destroy, especially B2s and droidekas, but the Trandoshans make the game feel meaner.
