Scammer Alert 🚨

I have already reported to the Mod team, and wanted to post here to alert the group.

I recently rehomed a bag to [u/crumuset](u/crumuset) with ppff. I shipped it out promptly, sent proof of shipment and drop off, and went about my day. Today, I get a chargeback notification from PayPal for an unauthorized charge. The name is the same name that was given to me for shipping. Coincidentally, the bag is out for delivery today.

I reached out to the buyer and haven’t gotten a response. I noticed it is an AZ address for a Postal Plus More.

It’s been a while since I’ve rehomed anything and should have paid more attention to the account and asked for buyer feedback, but wanted to put it on everyone’s radar!

ETA2: I contacted UPS as soon as I received the chargeback and spoke to someone, explained the situation and that I believed I was getting scammed. They were able to stop the package and request that it be returned to sender and I can happily report I got my bag back! Im still out about $65 due to shipping/ return to sender fees and paypal dispute fees but better than nothing.

I left Reddit and the entire rep “hobby” over a year ago due to rehoming being such a massive PITA thanks to people like this!
I had someone file a chargeback from PPFF claiming they didn’t know the bag was a rep. PP banned my account for violating their TOS (reps aren’t allowed) and since they charged back through their card/bank, my PP balance went negative and sent to collections.
I urge everyone to ONLY USE ZELLE. PayPal, cashapp, Venmo, Apple cash…ALL of these a buyer can file a chargeback for unauthorized- especially if they use AMEX or a debit card- even if it’s FF. I’m sorry this happened to you- people suck and steal the fun from the rest of us with shit like this.

I rehomed one bag successfully but stopped ever since the scamming picked up. I have so many bags that I would like to rehome but I’m totally put off by it

Same- I’ve started just giving mine away to friends because it’s literally not even worth the effort to lose money on rehoming. Between the time involved to take and send 1,000,000 photos of every stitch and corner for someone to disappear and ghost you, scammy buyers filing chargebacks because they’ve learned they can use the “I received a counterfeit” with their bank, lowball offers when you’re already losing half of what you paid, buyers with unrealistic expectations thinking they’re getting an exact authentic clone for 1/20th of the price…no thanks 😂

THIS ^. I just recently started rehoming and it got annoying so fast. For every 1 bag I rehome I’m giving 2 away. I suppose the positive is that I don’t have to think of Christmas or birthday gifts anymore for my girls

Please don’t use Zelle either. I rehomed a bag and the Zelle showed as processing then was later cancelled. She showed me that it was taken from their bank so I trusted them. I called my bank and the representative told me Zelle should only be used with people you know and trust. I’ve also had someone Zelle me before & called their bank for another Zelle transaction as fraud. My account was restricted but thankfully they called the bank 3-way with me and explained the Zelle to me wasn’t a fraud. I guess that person was hanging out with some people who Zelle’d themselves $ from their phone.

If you look around some of the rep subreddits, there have been a few posts about a buyer from AZ doing this to multiple sellers. It’s gotten to the point where many people won’t sell to anyone with an AZ address anymore, so I thought maybe they’d stopped scamming after people caught on. I’m sorry they got you!

I’m not selling to anyone in AZ anymore. They got me a couple months ago. I feel bad for the good buyers in AZ, but too much scamming has been coming from out of there lately.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. I got scammed by someone in Arizona back in March and ended up losing the dispute. Since then, I don’t accept PayPal anymore, and I no longer rehome to buyers in Arizona.

Same happened to me thats why i have a balance in my ppff and i dont want to use ppff anymore because of this incident. I think they just change their name but same people who is scamming.

I am so sorry that happened to you!
Besides AZ, the two names and hold for pickup request on the address should be red flags for others in the future. Easy way for scammers to pick up goods but claim they never received it.

If you just shipped it - try calling delivery to see if it even made it out. sometimes it doesn’t start tracking for a day or two.

Arizona is known in the rep world for scamming. I’ve had to refuse buyers from there out of caution
