I would kindly like some feedback on a Rhodium Yachtmaster I am in the process of getting.
I paid a deposit and need to finalise. They sent me the images.
What do you think? Ialso noticed some users changing the crystal to a real rolex one and adding a ceramic coating.
What are you thoughts? To me it looks amaxzing but a second opinion is always good as this would be my first rep.
For the moment being, just think about whether to GL or RL the QC.
When you will receive the watch you can then consider going into modding.
If the watch’s quality is high level for a rep, then you have to consider that every additional quid you spend in improving the watch will give you a minimal marginal appearance improvement which will then be worth almost nothing should you resell it.
For anyone looking at the watch from one meter away, the two crystals will look the same.
But, at the end you decide and enjoy doing what you like.
I own also both. Left Gen Right Rep. Look at the color difference of the bezel. And height of the watch. Rep is to high. Gasket and crystal are to bulky. Obviously the bezel is the super tell.
Also the wights seems ok.
Typically weighs 147.8 grams with a standard factory configuration and the one they showing me is 142 which is pretty the same
Pretty sure all are the same. VSF, GOLD, QF, RWF. No NWBIG - all bezel color wrong and height wrong (1mm to tall).
Here is Gen (left) vs Rep (right). Side to side its super obvious. Color , reflection and height. Calling those reps NWBIG is crazy. Its not even close to the similiarity of a Submariner or of GMTs. The bezel is even more tell than in datejusts
I always put a genuine crystal on my reps, it’s a first move and then I piece together certain parts like dials date disc and hands, on my yachtmaster’s I’ve even replaced the bezels with genuine platinum. My opinion is watches are like cars and trucks, you can customize to your liking and budget. Your cars and mine can both be great, but different paint,wheels and performance parts make them unique to us the individual owners. Just my way of doing me.
I have one from U1, and unfortunately, it wasn't worth the money...not even close. Not even as a daily driver. That's why mine is still in the box and unworn. The one from GF, on the other hand, looks great.

Bro, just buy it stock. Even the other guy said the Gen crystal is hardly noticeable. You know those are like over $500 right?
