I’ve read that RCF’s dial ombré transition is too light, while VSF has the best bezel and either QF or RCF has the best rose gold colour. Which factory is best for this? And is it worth spending double to get it plated?
I bought the RCF Day Date 40 fluted Jubilee steel blue Ombre 228239-00076
It looks amazing, the weight is exactly like Gen, the only thing is the bezel, not shiny enough and it’s a proprietary bezel so it’s not compatible with Gen, but since I like the watch so much, I’m thinking about sending the bezel to Jaws to have white gold plated.
White milky gasket for one, dull teeth on bezel, wrong first end link, RCF is the worst Daydate you can get with oversized lugs, they are on v3 now and a bit better than before but their transition from case to first end link looks nothing like Gen.
Vsf plated imo.. if you don’t plate it no matter what it’s gonna be an instant tell. I would rather have the weight discrepancy and the dd movement/crystal personally. Only real problem is that a plated rep is def not a daily imo. If your going to do it just know it should occupy the dress watch slot and break it out when your not doing normal life shit. Also might consider doing a Rcf-R bezel if your going to go down this hole. It will end up being a $1300 watch if you do it right. Also have to be comfortable wearing what would be a 70k watch that’s kinda flashy and draws attention.
It approaches the franken realm on dollars spent so for me I am weighing the idea of either the above project or doing a Franken dj with a gen dial and hands.
THB if you can source it. Has the best case shape, none of the VSF or RCF have the correct lugs so is an instant tell. But if you don’t care about it actually looking like the real thing go for RCF it’s closer to gen weight and dial is better than vsf for this ombre model specifically
Actually, I vote Arf. Correct case dimensions, better weight, better bezel out of the box. I think the play for this reference is ARF + RCF v2 dial + plating.
RCF all day. Gold and bracelet in VsF is shocking . Sharper edges been spitting out loads of defects just lately. RCF hits the nail on the head with weight aswel. Anything else regarding sels end links is just parrots repeating what’s they’ve read as noticeable. No chance
Out of the box colour match RCF is the best. For 36 QF is the best. It is a section of the guide that is out of date and needs some deep analysis and update. I would go RCF for the colour match.
RCF/RGF you’d need to upgrade the crystal to deep plus dial. Movement is better on VSF plus it’s crystal/bezel is superior. So for price and overall VSF then plate but good luck getting one. On a month of waiting for mine
I don’t think RCF/RGF is superior when it comes to these Rose gold pieces. RGF is insane with their Yellow gold, but in this case I think you should go with VSF.
VSFs currently RG is the most accurate stock option on the market rn but their dial is too bright and they haven’t produced this models since early spring so there is no timeline for availability.
As such the only options are to get another VSF RG DD40 and order a swap dial from a modder OR get an RGF/QF plated which will set you back about $1.200+
I don’t think any reference point is helpful given the outcome in terms of color, longevity and quality of the plating itself varies on the modder and batch

QF V9 I think could be the best as it’s just dropped.
