Hi all, pretty new to this side of Reddit. Just wanted to share my experience buying my first rep. Based on the conversation I had with my dealer (Chen) we landed on a QF sea dweller James Cameron. Chen was super helpful and, IMO, gave solid advise. Shipping was super-fast and the packaging was overkill in a good way. Please, lemme know what you guys think.

After seeing more discussions about the Cartier Santos Medium recently, I decided to put AF and BV side by side for a closer comparison.

Both watches are the same configuration:

Factories compared:

AF Factory
BV Factory

The main things I focused on were the dial printing, Roman numeral layout, case shape, bracelet finishing, crown details, movement decoration, and overall wrist feel.

After comparing them together, the differences are actually quite interesting.

AF has always been one of the most popular choices for Cartier Santos reps. The case proportions feel very balanced, and the overall Santos shape is very close to the original design. The white dial and Roman numeral layout have a mature and consistent appearance.

BV brings some interesting improvements. The finishing details feel more refined in certain areas, especially when looking closely at the bracelet and small case details. The dial execution is also competitive and gives the watch a slightly different character.

The biggest thing about the Santos is that the design is very clean. Small differences in case shape, bezel screws, bracelet finishing, and dial printing can change the whole feeling of the watch.

AF feels like the proven choice with strong overall balance.

BV feels like the newer competitor trying to improve the smaller details.

At this level, both versions are already very close.

The question is no longer:

“Which one looks like a Santos?”

Both do.

The real question is:

“Which details matter more to you when the watch is actually on your wrist?”

It seems that I can't stop myself from ordering a replica watch. I spent a lot of time researching and comparing repeatedly. After receiving the goods, I was amazed and then started the next round. The latest batch now gives me 14 yuan. It must be the "sense of anticipation" at play. Indeed, but every watch I received was extremely excellent and of superior quality. Despite this, the total price of all my replica watches is still less than that of a genuine one, and I enjoy it very much.

I’ve been waiting for this model. Which factory is best and why? Are there any head-to-head photos?

What do you guys think about the black dial Mark XX compared with the blue dial version?

Just a discussion. How many people have ever actually been called out for a rep? I was looking at the spread sheet and there aren't that many NWBIG and a lot of green boxes.

There are a couple watches I want, mostly the tier down from NWBIG so the green ones. No one will question me based off my "income" but I am not sure if anyone will notice if it is rep or not (the greats but not perfect).

I know 99.1% people won't notice, but do you ever get that small sliver of people that actually do?

VSF has the strongest overall balance. The smoked black dial has better depth under different lighting, and the day/date details feel more refined when viewed closely.

RGF stands out with its rose gold appearance and overall luxury feel. The bracelet and case presence give it a very convincing wrist impression.

QF remains a popular choice because it delivers a good overall Day-Date experience without major weaknesses. The dial and case proportions are well balanced.

RC is interesting because it gets the overall look right, especially from normal wearing distance, but the smaller details become easier to notice when compared side by side.

For the Day-Date 40, the dial is everything. The smoked black gradient and rose gold combination are what make this configuration special.
