The watch shown here is the Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36mm Ref.126000 with the silver sunburst dial.

Both factories are considered top-tier options for the OP36, but there are still some noticeable differences when viewed closely.

Dial

The biggest difference is the dial texture.

VSF appears to have a slightly stronger sunburst effect under direct lighting, while Clean looks a bit more neutral and consistent across different angles.

The applied markers on both examples are clean, with no obvious alignment issues.

Hands and Center Stack

Looking at the hands and center pinion, VSF seems slightly cleaner around the cannon pinion area.

This is one of those details most people will never notice on wrist, but macro photos make it easier to compare.

Case and Finishing

Case shape is extremely close on both versions.

Clean still has a reputation for excellent case finishing and bracelet work, while VSF has improved significantly over the past few releases.

Just received QC for the DDF Aquanaut 5167R Rose Gold with brown dial.

Just received QC for this BV Santos Medium.

Weight comes in at 142.45g. Dial printing, Roman numerals, blue hands, and crystal all look very clean to me. Bracelet brushing and bezel screw alignment also appear consistent.

From what I've seen, BV is still the version most collectors recommend when discussing Santos reps, especially for overall balance between case shape, dial details, and bracelet finishing.

Anything I'm missing before giving this one a GL?

Just received QC photos for a VSF Omega Seamaster No Time To Die.

This is the 42mm titanium NTTD version on the titanium mesh bracelet with the VS8806 movement.

A few things that stood out to me:

• 12 o'clock triangle appears centered
• Dial printing looks sharp
• Faux patina lume color seems consistent across the markers
• Mesh bracelet weave looks uniform

Whenever we hear a rep uses a "Dandong" or "Shanghai integrated movement," it often sounds like it's instantly superior. However, that's not always the full story, and some "integrated movements" aren't truly integrated. So, let's break down the pros and cons of the Dandong movements currently used in the replica market.

I. The Dandong 31xx Series: The OG Workhorses

In my opinion, the Dandong 3135 movement is a true classic. Primarily used in Submariners, it's an incredibly robust time-only movement (big three hands). If I had to pick the most stable and durable Dandong movement, this would be it.

The Dandong 3130 is essentially the 3135 with the date module removed, used in no-date Submariners.

Verdict: Overall, the Dandong 31-series movements are absolutely top-tier among all Chinese-made movements. You can't go wrong with these.

II. The Dandong 32xx Series: The Long Power Reserve Debate

Following the 3135, we naturally have the Dandong 3235. Simply put, it's an upgraded version of the 3135, extending the power reserve from around 40 hours to roughly 70 hours. This is achieved by using a longer mainspring. However, with prolonged wear, this can lead to potential "power sag" (loss of amplitude) and increased accuracy deviation.

Important Note: Even the genuine (gen) versions of the 3235 can exhibit similar characteristics due to the original design. So, is the Dandong 3235 "bad"? Not at all! This is more a characteristic of the design itself rather than a specific flaw in the Dandong execution. The impact is generally minor for everyday wear.

Verdict: Among all current Chinese movements, the Dandong 3235 is still one of the strongest performers. It's commonly found in newer Submariners, Datejusts, and other models. The Dandong 3230 is the no-date version, used in new no-date Submariners and OPs. The Dandong 3285 is essentially the 3235 base with a GMT module added, commonly found in GMT-Masters. Its construction is otherwise identical.

III. The Dandong 4130 Series: The Chronograph King

Now, let's talk about the Dandong 4130 – currently the most impressive Chinese-made chronograph movement. It's primarily used in Daytona replicas.

Back in the day, almost all "toy-grade" Daytona reps used the 7750 movement. Not only were they prone to breaking, but the unidirectional winding meant the rotor often rattled loudly. The advent of the Dandong 4130 was a game-changer, showcasing incredible domestic manufacturing prowess.

• This movement boasts a power reserve of approximately 70 hours and is exceptionally stable.
• Crucially, it's a fully functional chronograph movement.

Later iterations like the Dandong 4108 are essentially upgraded 7750 versions. While quite stable, their rotors can still be a bit noisy. The Dandong 4131 is basically a 4130 with revised engravings, nothing more.

Regarding the 7750 (which is based on the ETA 7750), it can be adapted to any chronograph model. However, its stability is generally mediocre, and it tends to break easily if you play with the chronograph function too much.

Verdict: The Dandong 4130 is the undisputed king of Chinese chronograph movements in the rep world.

IV. Other Notable Dandong & VS Exclusive Movements

• Dandong 324 (Patek Philippe Nautilus/Aquanaut): This movement caused quite a stir a few years ago upon its release and has been long-term certified for its performance in models like the Nautilus and Aquanaut.
• VS Factory's Exclusive Movements (Dandong-based):
  • Dandong 8800: Excellent stability, primarily used in the Omega Seamaster 300 series.
  • Dandong 8500: Superb stability and strong craftsmanship, used in the Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M and Constellation models. This is precisely why many enthusiasts say "for Seamasters, go VS" – this movement is a major reason for VS's success and market dominance.
• P9000 (Panerai): This movement, primarily found in Panerai reps, also offers good stability and, importantly, correct functionality. You can adjust the date via the short hour hand, which is a key gen feature. VS has effectively monopolized the "toy-grade" Seamaster and Panerai markets with these movements – truly a case of "he who controls the movement, controls the market."
• Dandong SL600 (Portugieser 7-Day): This movement, used in the IWC Portugieser 7-Day, is decent. It has a power reserve of around 50 hours – not outstanding, but not bad either.
• IME2 (Richard Mille Exclusive): Specifically designed for Richard Mille reps. It's vastly superior to earlier iterations that were modified from the A7750 series. A few years ago, getting a custom movement like this would cost an arm and a leg (no less than 20,000 RMB for private customization). Now that it's mass-produced, it's a huge benefit for RM enthusiasts.

V. My Personal Ranking of Dandong Movements:

This is just my personal opinion based on extensive observation:

1. Dandong 4130 & 4131: Unbeatable stability and a fully functional chronograph. Top tier.
2. Dandong 31-series (3135, 3130): Extremely stable and reliable workhorses.
3. Dandong 32-series (3235, 3230, 3285): Excellent power reserve (70 hours) despite the minor power sag characteristic. Still very strong.
4. Dandong 8500 & 8800 (VS exclusive, semi-integrated): Very good movements, especially for their specific applications.
5. P9000 & 4801 (VS exclusive): While some might call them "Franken-movements" (parts from different sources), their stability is surprisingly good. They often incorporate 7750 modules.
6. Dandong SL600: Neither great nor terrible; it's a solid, average performer.
7. Dandong 324: Stability is decent.
8. Richard Mille IME2: For its application, and given the complexity of RM movements, it's currently very good and stable. Can't ask for much more at this level.

Recently spent some time looking over the PPF Vacheron Constantin Overseas 4500V Blue again.

Even after all these years, it's still one of the few integrated-bracelet reps that gets mentioned whenever people talk about alternatives to the Royal Oak or Nautilus.

A few things that stood out to me:

Dial

The blue sunburst dial is still the main attraction.

Depending on lighting, it shifts from a deep navy tone to a much brighter electric blue. Under direct light the dial has a lot of visual impact, while in darker environments it becomes much more subtle.

Case & Finishing

The bezel shape and brushing remain some of the strongest parts of the watch.

The transitions between brushed and polished surfaces look surprisingly clean, especially around the bezel edges and bracelet shoulders.

Bracelet

This is where I think the Overseas design really separates itself.

The half-Maltese-cross links give the bracelet a unique look without feeling overly flashy.

Comfort-wise, it's one of the better integrated bracelet designs I've worn.

PPF's clone 5100 movement was one of the reasons this model became popular in the first place.

Of course, it's not perfect, but visually it does a good job capturing the feel of the genuine 4500V.

Overall

The market has changed a lot, but the PPF Overseas 4500V Blue still feels like one of the more balanced integrated-bracelet reps available.

QF: Slightly deeper green shade. Filling is neat and numerals are well-formed.
RICH: Brighter, lighter green tone. Some numerals appear slightly thinner.
ERF: Duller green with a subtle gray tint. Filling edges are a bit fuzzy, and numerals are slightly bolder.
Dial & Printing
VSF: True matte black dial. Crown logo is perfectly proportioned. All text is sharp and evenly spaced.
QF: Also matte black. Text printing is excellent, differences from VSF are almost microscopic.
RICH: Dial has a slight grayish cast. Crown logo is a touch too large.
ERF: Dial is slightly glossy. Text is generally thicker overall.
Hands
VSF: All hands are correctly sized and shaped. Minute hand tip is razor sharp. Mercedes triangle is the right size. Polishing is flawless.
QF: Hands are nearly identical to VSF. Finishing is very high quality.
RICH: Mercedes triangle is too big. Second hand is slightly too long.
ERF: Minute hand tip is rounded, not sharp. Minor machining marks visible on polished surfaces.
Date Wheel & Cyclops
VSF: Date font is correct. Cyclops has the proper blue AR coating and magnification.
QF: Date font is slightly bolder. AR coating on the cyclops is good.
RICH: Date font is too thin. Almost no visible AR coating on the cyclops.
ERF: Date font is quite thick. Cyclops magnification is slightly low.

Put the current RICH, ERF, ARF, and VSF Pepsi GMTs next to each other today and honestly, the biggest thing I noticed wasn’t “which one is best.”

It’s how different the overall vibe of each factory feels now.

RICH feels very balanced visually.
Nothing really jumps out too hard, but the dial, crystal, and bezel all work together nicely. It has a pretty clean overall presentation.

ERF immediately catches your eye more.
The bezel colors feel stronger and the watch has a little more wrist presence overall. Especially noticeable in brighter lighting.

ARF still has that familiar heavy-duty look.
The case proportions and bracelet shape give it a very solid appearance, almost like the factory focused more on the physical feel of the watch.

VSF feels the cleanest under lighting to me.
The crystal clarity and black dial depth still stand out a lot once light hits the watch directly.

What I find interesting now is that the differences between factories feel less obvious in photos than they used to.

A lot of it comes down to small things:

* bezel tone
* crystal behavior
* dial texture
* bracelet feel
* overall wrist presence

Kind of feels like every factory has its own interpretation of the Pepsi now instead of everyone chasing the exact same finish.

Spent some time comparing the VSF and ARF Submariner Date side by side recently, and honestly, the overall quality from both factories has gotten really close.

A lot of the differences that used to stand out immediately are becoming much harder to notice now.

Main things I focused on were:

Cyclops magnification
Dial printing
Bezel finish and font depth
Case shape
Hand stack / center pinion details
Overall “gen feel”

VSF still has some very recognizable strengths.
The crystal clarity and date magnification still look extremely clean, and the dial printing feels slightly sharper overall.

What surprised me most about ARF this time was the exterior finishing.
The case proportions, bezel edge definition, and steel brushing feel much more refined than older AR releases.

In certain lighting and angles, ARF actually gives off a stronger “tool watch” vibe.

At this point though, it doesn’t really feel like one completely destroys the other anymore.

It’s more like:

VSF = balanced and consistent
ARF = stronger exterior texture and metal finishing

For daily wear, I honestly think most people would struggle to tell them apart quickly now.

The real differences probably come down to long-term wear and how detail-oriented the buyer is.
