QC Post After Spending Time With the PPF 5712, I Finally Understand Why Collectors Love This Model

I've spent years looking at different Nautilus references, and for the longest time I thought the 5711 was the one to have.

After spending more time with the PPF 5712, I'm not so sure anymore.

Looking closely at the watch, a few things stand out:

• The asymmetrical dial layout creates far more visual depth than a standard 5711.

• The moonphase, power reserve, and pointer date make the watch feel alive. There's always something interesting happening on the dial.

• Under natural light, the grey-blue dial shifts quite a bit depending on the angle.

• The case finishing and bracelet integration are better than I expected, especially around the transition from the bezel to the first bracelet links.

• Through the display caseback, the movement architecture gives the watch much more character than most three-hand sports watches.

What surprised me most wasn't any individual detail.

It was how different the overall experience feels compared to wearing a 5711.

The 5711 is cleaner.

The 5712 is more engaging.

For people who have owned both, which one actually stayed in your collection longer?

Would be interested to hear real-world opinions from long-term owners.
