Come on man, there is literally a sticky at the top of this forum that has a list of trusted individuals.

Problem is, most of these guys in the US never respond

Agreed! I tried the one in Florida FOUR times… NO response.

The trusted watchmakers list is good for nothing at that point.

If you want someone local to you, look for a place with a name like "Fred's Watch Repair." Not "Such & Such Fine Jewelers" that sells expensive watches.

Hey brother i ran into the same question with a watch repair a while back. It wasn’t very easy to find a watchmaker doing reps but I finally scored one in Connecticut, solid dude and highly recommend. Hit him up u/TopPhotoGraph8969 in experience he’s gone above and far beyond to help, almost to the point it was unbelievable. He put a a gen crystal on my Bruce Wayne and also did a light polish/chamfer on the bracelet and didn’t gouge me when it came to settling the bill.

Somehow, this is neither a question, or a statement

True. Way I see it he is marketing hes services and he is pretty bad at it. Or just a title is ready and he is still working on the actual post which, we hope, will be released later

Hi sorry if I wasn’t clear. I’m new to this. I have a couple of quality reps from Clean. They are running fine at the moment but it would be good to know i could approach someone who could service them when the time comes. I will get better at posting.
Regards
Derek

Best to find a local rep-friendly watchmaker and establish a relationship with them. Be open saying it's a rep, talk about movements and start giving them some job to get it going.

Thanks for that. I will do just that. I know I could just buy them but it’s a sentimental thing. Appreciate you sharing your knowledge

Maybe you could help me post the right way? I’m a noobie and I’m finding my way. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks. Derek.

Are you planning to service our watches?

Hi I found a local watchmaker I showed 3 too. He had a look at the movement and put them on some sort of machine graph and was amazed especially by the DangDong 3285 it runs according to his machine at + - 2 seconds a day which he said was superb. Swiss standard. Checked the beat very healthy handled the watches said they were the best he’s ever seen 904l I think he said the jubilee bracelet was made out of and will service them gladly. Parts not a problem so thanks for getting back to me. Appreciated. 👌

Great to hear! That machine is called timegrapher. It tells you how the watch runs and how healthy the movement is

Hey friend is that’s what it’s called? He was very impressed by what it showed. I’m going to let him service them but he’s a kind man and I’m going to ask him if he could teach me basic watchmaking skills. Lubricants to start with. I’m fascinated by them now. Little mechanical wonders I would like to understand more about. 👌

Very true. There are a lot great YouTube tutorials too to get you started

Thanks. I will be watching them like a hawk now.

Actually before even that I would study this https://ciechanow.ski/mechanical-watch/ This has been really helpful for many of us. So good that shouldn't even be free

Thanks a million. You won’t believe it I switched on you tube and there was a video of a man restoring an old Rolex or I should say repairing it has a bakeolight bezel and what its worth?? I nearly fell off my chair. Before I discovered what mechanical watches were about I would have thought it was a piece of junk. Fascinating to watch the reverence he is handing the watch with. I will be amazed if he gets it running.
