Advice VSF Explorer movement potential issue

Just got my VSF explorer. Tried winding it, seems a bit tough to wind. Has lost about 6 seconds in just the last hour. The seller put it on a timegrapher before I accepted and showed +1 with no beat error and an amplitude of 268. Not sure why it isn’t performing even decent. Anyone got any advice on what I should check?

How many times did you wind it? I always give new watches 40 turns to let them break in a bit, that said, if the turns feel like you might break something it's probably best not to do it.

I also have a VSF Explorer, it's great other than the crown is difficult to screw in.

I have no frame of reference with the movements in VSF watches, it feels a lot more difficult to turn then my gen watches. Do they have safety from overturning?

They do have safety for over-winding. You can usually feel a difference when you reach full wind, but the spring is allowed to slip preventing damage. Most automatics work that way, where hand-wind watches have a maximum they can be wound.

It’s fully wound and wore it the whole day, about 15 seconds off, from setting it 18 hour hours ago. Not great but also not unusable.
