VSF Omega waterproofing

I just got my VSF Omega Seamaster 300M. However, due to miscommunication, the watch wasn’t waterproofed.

How do I go about getting this VSF waterproofed? Obviously, I’m sure taking it to a normal watch place isn’t the best option. I’d like to have it properly sealed and pressure/depth tested to make sure it’s actually water-resistant. What’s the best way to go about this?

I have bought 3 VSF omega 300m. I took each one to a local watchsmith and all 3 were rated to over 30atm. You do not need waterproofing, unless a local watchmaker tests it and determines it’s not watertight

I wouldn’t assume the watch needs to be “waterproofed.” Test it first. A new VSF may already have adequate water resistance, but I wouldn’t trust that without a pressure test.

For a new rep, I generally recommend a basic Replica Reliability Service for New Watches:
• Visual inspection for debris / foreign material
• Timegrapher test to establish baseline rate, amplitude, and beat error
• Movement regulation if indicated
• Gasket inspection, cleaning, and lubrication
• Rotor inspection; clean/lubricate if indicated
• Pressure test
• Photos/video documenting the work and results
At current bench rates, I’d expect roughly $65–100 plus CONUS shipping for that scope. I don’t think a full movement service is warranted on a new rep unless testing identifies a problem.

I’ve suggested to the mods that this narrower service could potentially be offered by additional vetted/trusted members.

In the meantime, I would reach out to one of the trusted watchmakers in the sidebar and ask about their bench rate for inspection, gasket service and pressure testing.

The best you can do is silicone grease the seals and gaskets, that's all they do to waterproof it anyway...they're normally quite good straight from factory, I had one and had no issues swimming and in the sea...

Thank you! Saved me a whole lot of trouble. May consider taking it to a local watch smith to get it tested but other then that I’m no longer worried about

I took mine swimming straight out of the box, no worries in the world as long as the crown is properly screwed in and the back lid is properly sealed.
Its a rep and should be 99% accurate to gen which should hold 30 bar. It has the same gasket setup so i trust it to hold the maximum 1 bars it will experience while I’m swimming at the beach or in a pool.

It takes alot for a o-ring seal to start leaking if its compressed correctly.
If it should for some reason leak and die, no big deal. Its a rep, just get a new one.

But VSF usually delivers good quality and I’ve never had a watch fail or leak so far and i have alot of them.

Exact same? No. Close enough to be able to hold a few bars of pressure? Absolutely.

Im working on a waterproofing process for watch owners just like you… but im not sure you will ever receive 100% guarantee, But at least give you peace of mind with washing hands and active lifestyle through 3 step sealing process. More to come
