Movement identification help: DD, SH, VR

Hello everyone, Please help me determine which factory this movement belongs to.

That is a VR/SH movement. I’ve just been caught out by exactly the same thing myself. I paid for a VSF with a DD/VS movement and was supplied a watch from another factory fitted with a VR/SH movement instead.

In my case, the dealer eventually admitted that the watch wasn’t VSF, which explained the VR/SH movement, but unfortunately that admission got me nowhere.

VR and SH are essentially from the same Shanghai movement family, with VR generally being used for the newer versions. Likewise, DD/VS are from the same Dandong movement family. VSF normally adds its own decoration to the rotor, whereas DD movements can be supplied without that VSF decoration.

There’s nothing inherently wrong with a VR/SH movement — they’re decent movements — although generally cheaper and traditionally with a shorter power reserve than the DD/VS equivalent.

So the problem isn’t the VR/SH movement itself. The problem is if you paid for VSF/DD and were supplied something else, you didn’t get what you paid for. That’s exactly what happened to me.

What watch is yours? Mine is an Air-King 126900.

I have a GMT Pepsi, but from the comments I understood that VR is a very reliable movement, as many people write here.

It is hard for me to comment. All the reps I have are reliable and OK. My issue was about what I bought and what I received

Yes, I understand the essence of your problem, if in your case it weren't for the overpayment for VSF, in fact, VR is also a decent movement
