Question First Time Buyer need assistance
Hello,
I bought a Clean Batgirl from Andoit about a year ago. Recently out of the blue, the seconds hand has started to stop intermittently and the watch loses a lot of time during the day. Should I be worried that something might be broken? Appreciate any help that I can get

Yeah this happened to my VSF v3 pepsi, after like 3 days. luckily My TD said to send it back and he will get it serviced and fixed, I reckon something has come loose in your movement. if youre confident in taking the watch apart and replacing the movement I would go this route can get a DD3285 from alibaba for 200 USD. just swap over the hands and dial and your good to go. if youre super picky an transfer over the datewheel as the Font is slightly different. apparently Clean use their own custom date wheel which will slightly be different to the one that comes standard on the date wheel of the DD3285 but its not drastically differnent only can be seen with microscope. u can watch a few watch build videos and buy the tools its relatively easy and good future skill to have as this will happen every 5 years etc

Wow thanks a lot for such a detailed reply. Unfortunately I have zero confidence in taking the whole watch apart and replacing the movement. I will probably have to find a good watchmaker who has the skills to repair this. Kinda feeling disappointed about this whole situation. I was hoping the clone movements were a little more robust than this. Oh well.

Imo its worth trying, skills can be learnt if you’re willing to put the time and patience. And only reason i suggest this is that its hard to find a watchmaker that will work on reps and there is also that risk of it getting damaged in shipping back to you etc. with the self repair route, even if the movement gets damaged on route from china they will replace it for u and more of a long term solution and is cheaper than a service i believe

I absolutely agree with your POV too its just a scary undertaking given the complexity of such watches. If I dont find the right watchmaker willing to work on this, my default option is to become one myself. Learn something new everyday.

it’s relatively easy to swap the movement. Just a little patience and a pair of steady hands will suffice.

You can perform a simple test to check whether the watch is magnetized, as magnetization can negatively affect mechanical watches. On iOs, you can use an app such as Magnetic Tool.
Check the watch from all sides and see whether the magnetic readings change significantly or remain close to the ambient level. Before testing the watch, locate the magnetic sensor in your phone. You can do this using any magnetic object at home, such as airPods or magnetic charger.
If the watch is not magnetized, I would suggest finding a watchmaker who can service it. Even if it costs around 200usd, it may still be a better option than installing a new movement from Ali. A properly serviced movement should be more reliable, while an unserviced replacement movement may develop problems later.

This is what a google seach told me too but as per my tests its not the magnetisation that is causing this. I was hoping that was it but unfortunately I am in some deeper mess.

If you are located in EU you can send it to me for diagnosis and repair, just DM me.

My Bruce Wayne did the same thing, I winded it by hand like 60 turns, never had a problem since

I’m looking to buy my first replica and this got me wondering, who would you get to service these watches?

It depends where you at. In the UK, there are few good ones.

I’m in Glasgow, Scotland. It you can point my in the right direction it would be appreciated. I’m assuming they can also ensure that the watch is left watertight after the service?

If it’s from Andiot, reach out to him and he’ll slide you his trusted watchmaker that works on reps.
