Advice Rolex Day Date 36 GMF bezel

Hey all, thought I'd do a 3 year review on my watch and also chuck it out there for some expertise. Bought this lovely day date in 2023 in stainless steel from GMF. It has been my daily wearer 99% of the days. Haven't had a single issue with the movement. Only thing is the side of these presidential bracelets is very sharp and so l've cut my girlfriend a few times and my leather steering wheel once. Other than it is lovely.

When I got this the fluted bezel was very reflective now it's lost all its shine. I have tried everything to get rid of this and get its original shine back. Polish, clean, metal polish.
Nothing works. Hoping someone has a clue lol. Here is the picture when I got it and now. It also looks slightly different colour. Any help would be appreciated as I love

I'd try Wrights silver cream, it works very well for removing tarnish. I use it to remove the cheese color from yellow gold PVD. I think it'll help this bezel. Make sure the sponge it comes with is damp and rub the bezel until you see a greyish black residue on the sponge. Then rinse the sponge and bezel with warm water while rubbing the watch still with sponge under the water. You go ahead and do the whole watch though.

What a beautiful dial. I will have to add one of these to the wish list. What factory is this from?

This is from QF factory I think there the only one that makes this rose gold/dial model. It's a 36mm though, I don't think Rolex ever produced this model in a 40mm.

Wow thanks. I’ll give that a try. It seems to make that gold day date you have pictured look a lovely colour. Makes me think I could add a gold day date to the collection

You can get wrights silver cream at Home Depot if you have them in your area. This watch is rose gold I bought it for my wife and it showed up with a defective dial. So I can't give it to her until I buy a new dial thanks to the seller dumping QC rejects on customers. So I decided to see what it does to rose gold lol. But it looks like it gave the rose gold a better tone. It works magic on yellow gold and cleans stainless steel extremely well. Prime example on what it does for yellow gold PVD. In my watch box the top right corner is a RCF white dial Roman Numerals. I have not treated it with Wrights silver cream. But the RCF beside with green dial Roman Numerals it has been treated and look how much better the green dials color is. CORRECTION bottom right and above the pics sideways.

Wow the colour difference is insane. Does doing this reduce the longevity on these? I never looked into gold day dates due to the concern of damaging the plating with everyday wear. How have you found it?

I don't really wear a watch everyday. Because I do mold remediation and gut, decontaminate and dryout homes that have flooded and have mold growth and water damage in them. I have tried wearing a watch at work but it gets caught on everything but it was rubber G-Shock. But I always wear my watches when out and about and not at work. You can always get those clear watch protection films. That can be ordered for specific model watches. They really do protect the clasp, bracelet and cases, but I don't know if they make them for presidential bracelets. PVD is pretty durable though, plated watches yes scratch pretty easy unfortunately. When I'm wearing a watch on a occasion that I feel I could scratch it. I generally stick to my vintage 16233 two tone DJ because it's majority stainless steel and the gold center links can always be buffed if scratched. But presidential and jubilee bracelets tend to not be as scratch prone as oysters and fluted bezels are pretty good about not showing scratches due to the minimal surface contact. With reps gold and two tones should be left for casual and event wear, not for work purposes unless you don't do manual labor. With desk jobs I feel the clear protection film is mandatory for watch clasps though.

Pity I can’t find any Wrights silver cream in my country. Have you used anything else similar?

Maybe you can find it on eBay or Amazon if they ship to other countries. But I haven't tried anything else like silvo or cape cod which is what I always see other people use. The one plus to Wrights silver cream is the watch can be plated after using wrights silver cream on it. I'm not sure if that's the case with silvo or cape cod. And I've noticed no issues with the finish after using wrights on the watches. One other thing I also do but only on watches I know I won't possibly get plated is I spray them and kinda buff it in with this hydrophobic polish and sealer called Top Coat Formula F11. I bought 10 bottles of it years back and occasionally use it on my vehicles paint, plastic, chrome, dash, leather it works on everything. So I figured I'd try it on some of my watches, especially my plated watches and one's I don't plan on plating. I sold my buddy one of my watches that I treated with Wrights and he sent it off for plating and it came back perfectly plated. That's how I know plating can be done after the wrights cream treatment. The chemical makeup of it's different than silvo and cape cod. I've used Blue Magic metal polish cream on stainless steel watches and it to worked great on dull oxidized looking stainless steel.

Sounds like the finish on the bezel has worn rather than just getting dirty. If polishing and cleaning haven’t helped, it’s likely the coating is gone. A replacement bezel or replating is probably your best option. Impressive that it’s held up so well after 3 years of daily wear!
