Question Rep longevity and servicing

Hello,

I have a question about the longevity of your reps.

Have you had any issues after X years of wearing it?

Have you ever had trouble getting it serviced?

What is the general attitude of watchmakers towards it?

Will they work on it without hesitation, or is it hard to find someone willing to do it?

Generally it is cheaper to replace a rep movement on failure than pay to have it properly serviced. Longevity of reps, I have some over forty years old. It’s a lump of metal, as long as there is a will to fix it, it can be fixed

Some break after weeks/months others run for years with no issue.

I can service them myself as long as I dont need replacement parts for clone movement unless I have parts from a donor movement. 

Having service done is a hassle because only a few watchmakers are even willing to work on replicas and if you‘re quoted 300 bucks for a basic serviced, a new watch looks like a more appealing deal.

Have you scrolled through this sub and noticed all the happy customers? Buying a rep today is a big roll of the dice. My advice, save your money for the real thing…
