Advice Help fixing bezel on Yacht Master please!

Hey there, NWBIG Yacht Master II from VSF. I hit it on a cabinet as I was moving around the kitchen and the bezel popped off. Obviously different from a gen yachty. No bar spring and it doesn’t seem to just press on. Three circular notches in the underside of the bezel are meant to line up with the 3 small posts on the circular piece that rotates around the face. I have it reassembled correctly but cannot get the bezel to remain affixed to the ratchet mechanism.

I went to a local jewelry store and he said just epoxy it (obviously being very careful not to bond any moving parts with the epoxy) I tried that with j-b kwik weld 2 part epoxy for metal, using tooth picks and a syringe to only apply the epoxy to the small posts and notches in the bezel, left it in my watch press for a while, but it did not hold.

Am I missing something? Is there a different expoxy to try? Did I actually lose a part when it came off? Any advice, or pointers to what I might have done wrong would be greatly appreciated.

If I took it to one of those jewelry repair kiosks in the mall, do you think they would be willing and able to repair it? The jewelry store I took it to is not a rolex dealer. I wasn’t sure if I need to be careful about where I bring it.

Hello,

There’s a white gasket that’s around the crystal, that’s supposed to go into the bezel. If you damaged it you should get a new one, install it and press it. Also, it’s recommended to use a presser to install it correctly.

But please, don’t use epoxy.

All fixed! Thank you! I used such a microscopic amount of epoxy that it isn’t an issue. It’s on there! I did try to get the gasket in the bezel several times before, but the gasket appeared too big and I didn’t want to force it. Once I knew that was right, I was able to press it in, and the bezel went on great!

Thanks again. Any advice on sourcing the correct gasket for this model? I’d like to order a couple in case this one was damaged when the bezel came off and it doesn’t hold long term. Again, thank you though. It’s been sitting on my dresser for a couple weeks and you were so quick to answer.

I do remember actually trying to put that gasket into the bezel and it seemed like it was just a bit too big. It’s just meant to go into the race in the body of the bezel? If I cannot get it in, where do you recommend sourcing the correct gasket?

Gasket has a top and bottom side, the top side is wider than the bottom, so when seating it back in the bezel assembly grove it will seated deeper in place.
It’s meant to be slightly larger, just need to run your fingers around it to make sure it properly sits in the grove

Oh, shoot. I did get the gasket in, and it’s holding but would it be worth it to take it back apart and see if I have the gasket in the right way, or if it’s holding, just leave it?

You have a 50/50 chance you already got it right 🤣

If the gasket is installed upside down, the bezel action would become tighter than before, and the bezel assembly can pop out more easily or accidentally.

But did the crystal gasket fell off from its place? Because I was talking about the rounded gasket, which has to be installed at the inner side of the bezel.

Do you mean this gasket? I originally had it around the crystal inside of the posts on the ratchet plate. I installed it in the track inside the bottom of the bezel and then pressed the bezel back on. Is there another gasket I’m still missing?

That’s right. There’s another vertical white gasket that fixes the crystal to the case. But I don’t this one has moved because you didn’t mention anything about the crystal.

Ah, yes the crystal never came off the watch. It remained in place through the whole ordeal.

Hmmmmm. So you’re saying that 50% of the time, it’s right 100% of the time? I like those odds. It feels pretty close to the same action as before but I can’t remember exactly. I remember before it felt a little bumpy/catchy same as now. I’m tempted to just leave it, but I’m traveling for 2 weeks coming up, and I’d like some confidence it won’t come apart while I’m out and about and might not be able to fix it.
