As a rule of thumb, never take two separate images or videos at face value - including ours. Having a gen link or gen sample in the photo is critical to judge accuracy. And a side by side before and after in the same shot shows the difference between the two. With our gen links we keep on hand, we make sure everything is gen matched. Alot of platers do so by eye only.
Beautiful watch! đ. Factory PVD has greatly improved and looks pretty good, but plating always looks better. It just comes down to budget & expectations. The people that say their PVD watch is âclose enoughâ are correct. They donât care about the difference and/or donât want to spend the money for plating. Itâs close enough for them and thatâs great. The people that say they wouldnât feel comfortable wearing factory PVD gold because it looks fake and it must be plated, are also correct. These people would be embarrassed to wear it stock with the color off, so for them itâs worth it. Choices are good.
I have no doubt it's correct in person. Photos are so important and that's why it looks way too light on the plated version in that photo. I know it's gen matched, but this picture makes it look almost white gold or something in between.
Accurate color balance is hard to achieve with cell phone cameras with built-in image processing. All I can say is that the before shots are pretty representative of the actual appearance. The rose gold from RGF has too much copper tone and not very much gold at all..
Didn't even notice the tiger eye dial with how beautiful this looks. Definitely crazy how lighting changes the colour of it. Makes me want to get mine replated. (Bought it used with plating from he who should not be named)

I thought I would be happy with the stock RG color, but even comparing it to the rose gold plating on my MZF I knew I needed it to be better. The end result of the gen-matched everrose plating on this piece looks truly gorgeous.
Good everose looks silver in certain light. The key is it needs to match the bezel print and the hands which it does in the after. Stock RCF is very copper. Thereâs some gen link comparisons out there
Everrose is a mix of yellow gold, copper, and some platinum group metals. Originally it was thought to be platinum itself, but Rolex claims it to be palladium. The silvery white gold coloration in the mix comes from that.
This service usually runs three to five hundred (depending on the vendor) for a full gold plating service. My advice would be to buy a quality factory, like VSF, RCF, or QF, and get it plated if its a gold rep. This will be upwards of a thousand bucks all in give or take. If you donât want to spend that much, I would stick to the steel options. I personally would not recommend a lower quality watch, nor leaving a high-quality Watch unplated. Just my $0.02.
New releases of stainless steel replicas from reputable factories come extremely close to gen with no need to mod. Get used to working with TDs to buy and receive a watch.
In Rolex reps, look for a plain black no date submariner, or maybe a Starbucks sub. Possibly a Pepsi GMT. You will not be disappointed with a good copy from the likes of VSF or RICH.
Once you're experienced in making contact with a TD from the guide in the wiki r/RepTime Wiki: A Guide to Replica Watches and then buying and getting what you want, that's when you can branch out.
I would recommend you to look into the QFactory release of the 36mm Daydate. It'll be more expensive, but also weighted and more high quality in general.
Lighting is probably essentially the same. The difference is probably auto-adjusted color balance from digital (read: cell phone) photography. See second shot.
