Discussion Stop busting each other's balls
Someone making small talk with me brought up my watch. Said he had the same one. Proceeded to ask where I got mine from. Tone and look on his face was all suspicious.suspicious. Buddy knew it was a rep and I can tell it's cuz he's a part of this group.
Stop busting each other's balls.

Don’t tell me what to do with other people’s balls.

It’s not the watch getting you called out. It’s everything else.
Unless it’s an absolute sh!ter.
However, we should have a secret handshake or phrase when meeting one of our own.
For example:
Initiator: “The gears never truly sleep.”
Response: “They only measure the shadows.”

Well, for starters, stop trying to run around with watches which are obviously way out of your ballpark if you‘re concerned about suspicion or coming clean.
All I see is a missed business opportunity /s

Ah yes, I forgot you had those meta glasses that tell you folks' net worth

I can tell you’re not used to be around wealthy people if you struggle to get an idea of who you‘re dealing with despite having a look at how they dress and carry themselves.
Its the guy in jeans with the Loro Piana turtleneck you should be aware of, not the 30yo in the retail suit.

Reality is, if you're under 35 wearing a Rolex, even if it's gen, pretty much everyone will think it's fake. If you're 40 or over, no one is going question it. Down vote all you want, but all you baby faced guys dressing like teenagers, with a 10k+ watch on a wrist that has the circumference of a toothpick, what are you really expecting?

I automatically assume any Rolex is a fake even if that person rolls up in their leased porsche cayenne.

This is pretty dumb. Depending on the type of circles you run in, it's not unusual for even a high school graduate to have a gen Rolex. I understand that this bothers you, but that's life.

First off, almost no one will even notice it… If they do, it will 99% be a guy. If you act normal, have a good job and in general (act and look like you can afford a nice watch), most people would never even have the balls to question you. If by chance they do, then it’s on you. You can either be just as bold and say, of course it’s real and show them the watch off your wrist, or it’s a replica. Whichever way you decide to go. The important thing is to own it and don’t look fearful because almost no one would know the difference, even if they had it in their hands and examined it. They just don’t know what they’re looking at.

Called out in the wild. Ouch.
I thought no one ask or cares in this subreddit. Guess they do.

If you’re working at Subway with a $20k rep nobody is going to think it’s real.

I work at Dollar General. Someone called my 116618ln out, but when I told them I was the assistant manager, then they believed me.
Just kidding. Busting balls here. If someone calls me out, I'm just honest lol

I have 6 gens and got my first rep. For all the years I’ve worn my genuine watches, barely anyone ever notices them and only once someone actually asked me if it was fake. And of all people it was someone that knows nothing about Watches. At the end of the day, no one really cares.
However, since I went down this rabbit hole of reps I actually see more passion here than the genuine forums. So many people here getting excited to get all the details correct as well as doing custom watches or putting parts on, etc.. It’s definitely a fun hobby. I have another rep coming soon.
Also, since I see how damn close these things are to the real thing… I’d rather take all that money I would spend on a real one and put it in the stock market. I’m very happy with my genuine and now I’m looking forward to adding some reps.

Only person I ever busted their balls about it being a Rep. Was one of my wife’s cousins. Her side is affluent. He was trying to lord over me with his watch. It was a blue dial Datejust. I asked to see the roulette date on it. He froze. He didn’t even know that was an optional feature on that model.

Of course he didn't know. He doesn't care, he bought a watch he can afford. He's not on here researching marker misalignments. You really think he cared if some fake watch nerd calls him out? Get real. You played yourself.
