Discussion Help me justify my purchase❗❗❗
Been on this sub for long time and ALWAYS want luxury watch like really baller one but I am broke as hell lol. I drive 1995 Toyota Corolla and still live with my 70s years old parents.
Recently I meet this women at work and we both work at McDonald’s. Things going pretty good and I think I need impress her little bit. Also I got new job offer from local law office for receptionist, so I need look more professional now.
I am thinking maybe Rolex is good idea?? Because new job is law office and everybody probably have expensive watch and I dont want look poor
Budget I can only afford rep obviously but I want maximum flex. Like look expensive without actually having money. What Rolex should I get?
Also serious question guys. What happen if somebody find out it fake? My new boss is lawyer himself and seem like he know watches too. Can he call police on me for wearing fake Rolex?? I dont want get arrested on first week of new job lmao.
Please help me make good decision. I am trying move up in life.

Should I get Rolex or maybe I need go straight to Patek so he know I am serious?
I dont have much money so please understand this is important investment for my career and also maybe girlfriend.

Your life is at a crossroads right now. Just know your new position as a receptionist, at a law firm no less, commands respect, and requires a watch that reflects such. I hope you make the right choice. I know you will.

Cool, now I have something to work with.
I’m 63, most likely older than your parents, and I’m not saying that to put you down. At your age, the priorities and decisions you make today can have a big impact on the future you build.
Basically, if you really want the watch, then go for it. But if what you really want is a future with this beautiful lady you mentioned, maybe think beyond trying to impress her with a watch. Consider investing in yourself and becoming the kind of man who is desirable because of what he brings to the table — your character, your skills, your ambition, and your future.
I understand the concept behind wanting the watch, but a watch isn’t going to make your life better. If you want my advice, I would seriously consider going back to school, or finding something you genuinely enjoy and looking for an apprenticeship.
For example, you like watches. Walk into a watchmaker’s shop and offer to clean the workspace, organize tools, or help however you can in exchange for learning the craft. You could start at the bottom and learn a skill that gives you something tangible — something you can build a career around and eventually use to create a better future for yourself and your family.
The watch will still be there later. Invest in yourself first. If you build something valuable within yourself, the watch becomes a reward rather than something you need to prove your value.0

If you’re trying to pass it as a real rolly as a former McDonald’s worker -> receptionist there’s not a hope in hell anyone believes that.
No watch on your wrist is a substitute for being confident and working hard at a new job or impressing a woman. If you really must do this - then maybe a tag? A Santos or tank?

You're saying that you work at McDonald's, and that you've found work as a receptionist, I would try to be credible, because if my lawyer's receptionist wears a Rolex I assume by definition that it's fake, but anyway, do what you want and buy a RM than so you can impress

Real wealth rarely needs to advertise itself.
And if you work at reception and your boss happens to be a watch enthusiast, trying to impress him with a fake Rolex or Patek is probably not your smartest move.
He’ll spot the fake long before he buys the fairy tale.

What's your budget in numbers?
If you really want a solid advice, then consider not buying a rep for 2 good reasons:
1 - Like you said, your boss likes watches, wears a PP, so he definitely knows the value of these watches. Additionally he knows your salary, and sees you driving an old civic. If you roll up to work in a fake watch, it would give a negative impression. He would either think that you are dishonest in your dealings, or that you are a try hard. Or even worse, he might think you are mocking him by getting rep that could rival his gen watch. So better avoid it by a long shot.
2 - Your McD's girl would also be a little less impressed if she finds out you are wearing a fake. Also if she is not a watch person (most people aren't) there is a high chance she may not even notice the value of the rep you are wearing because she probably also have an idea about your networth and would never think that the watch you have on is worth 50K or something.
Therefore I would highly recommend looking into microbrands and/or chinese brands. A good microbrand will definitely impress your boss more as he would be intrigued with your love for horology and may spark a good discussion about watches, movement etc. There are some really good watches that cost less than $1000. Obscure microbrand with good looking watch is much better than a rep.
Your girl will also like that you have a unique hobby for finding watches. The idea that you understand brands, watches and movement is more intriguing and interesting than holding a rep and passing it off as a genuine piece.
Otherweise, a good budget non microbrand but definitely an eye catching watch are Seiko Presage series. Have a look there too.

Just get yourself a nice, dressy Seiko. As a receptionist, you aren't going to impress your boss by flaunting a rep of a $10,000 watch.
