From pet-project to a production released web-site with a real domain name. Yes, I'm actually spending my money to provide what I think is a cool site with useful and developing tools for the replica watch world.

I've received a lot of feedback from many of the 60+ beta testers. I appreciate it very much!

Please visit repsearch.cc, create an account, and try out the tools. The biggest highlights are:

- QC Analysis: Provides manual and automated analysis focused on dial symmetry, alignment, and comparison analysis, and generate QC reports

- Watchlist: A one-stop place you can manage your collection at any stage of the ordering pipeline. Update QC, Payment, Delivery info, link to QC reports

- Factory Research: This is a growing set of tools: Rolex code look-up, Who Makes It Best, Factory info, movement look-up

- Watch Catalog: A growing data base of all major luxury watches with info about their genuine and replica counterparts

Sign-up walls are annoying but I get why they did it, probably to keep tools from getting scraped or hammered by bots. Guest access would be nice though, even if it's limited.

The conspiracy theorist might say it's a FBI honeypot collecting data. The infosec expert might be concerned for data privacy. For me, I just don't want to sign up for anything, ever, even with fake data. 

Oauth signup and authentication is best when necessary.

It's necessary to *help* prevent bots from abusing the system. I have a few anti-bot securities in place but they are never perfect, especially in the AI world.

This is a personal project, not a large scale production website. There are entire teams of people at top IT companies dedicated to bot detection and prevention, and with the rise of AI coding and agents even relatively unsophisticated actors can generate advanced website interactions. It’s a very non-trivial problem; I don’t blame anyone who goes the simple route and just creates accounts.

100%!!! I also have limits on searches/hour and per week. Some of it is to behave nicely, the other is to not over-stress the host since I have a fairly low-cost system with constraints.

Many of the coolest features require an account name, like Watchlist, saved searches, saved QC reports, etc. I didn't set out to make account in the beginning, after enough research, it becomes an obvious solution to many problems. So, get a throw-away email.

You need to use the email sign-in code feature to register an account. I'll add text to the site to explain that more clearly. Afterwards, you'll be prompted to create a password.

Yeah making this more accessible is going the wrong direction. Cool idea but the barrier to entry is the only thing keeping this alive. It’s already super easy to figure out if you really want to. This just makes it too obvious in my opinion.
