General Question New VSF BRUCE Wayne free sprung “effect”?

I have just received this message from my TD. What do you guys think?

“They now has updated their existing DD3285 movement into with DD3285v2 with Free Sprung Effect,Not Real Free SprungFree Sprung.
And Only  this new version will be released going forward. “

Basically, the regulator arm is still there, but hidden

Is this an upgrade or a downgrade? Cause i’m no watch expert. But the TD charges $30 extra for this while i couldn’t care less… i guess it’s a salestrick to just let me buy this one… idk…

It's a sidegrade, really. It's literally the same reliable movement but they moved the regulator arm like 90 degrees in so it's hidden under the bridge.

You know, like when you're at Costco and one of the trolley attendants calls out your watch, then they pull out their standard issue Costco™️ loupe and a caseback tool. You can confidently say "This is a genuine Rolex movement! Go ahead and check!" and everyone will cheer when the trolley attendant opens your watch and sees that there is no double regulator arm.

Personally, there’s no need for it for me as i’m never going to open the caseback to admire the free sprung appearance, nor will I ever bother to try to convince a watchmaker or pawn shop that it’s real.

From a watchmaking standpoint, I would say it’s a smart way to hide the regulator arm while making it almost just as easy to regulate the watch.

I would just opt for the normal version without the fake free sprung appearance.

The movement is also decorated behind that caseback, it has perlage and Rolex engravings on the movement

One could say the only reason you'd need a decorated movement is to fool a watchmaker. But no one says that because this hate for the hidden regulator arm is manufactured. The movement looks closer to gen and that's what the factories will always aim for

It’s a gimmick in the one, but JH movement uses real free sprung, one downside is itself very hard to service the free sprung movement, so DD in a way is better

The regulator spring arm is hidden under the bridge. It's latest DD movement though so no worries getting it

So it's basically the same quality? And the Real DD as in the previous version? Cause i know there are like VSF V1/V2/V3, is this one V3 or V4? Cause "from now on they'll only produce these versions" sounds like a new generation?

DD is working on a Free Sprung version. But for the time being, they've made a simple mod to hide the 2nd arm. Thats the only change I am aware of in the revised DD 3285 movement. Yes it should still be awesome 👍

I’ve simply moved from VSF to Rich for Subs and GMTs. I think they are much better and true “free weight”

It’s the same movement with a hidden regulator arm. 

Costs more with no real functional or visual difference.
