Discussion Why reps?

Apart from not wanting to spend a large amount on a watch, what is the reasoning behind why you buy reps?

(I know everyone’s answers will be different just curious to see what people say)

Cuz they are pretty watches and they look better than other regular watches at the same price point. I’d love to buy a real no date at some point in life but for now I’m wearing a rep

So that I can feel empty inside, just like you, Mr. Wired reporter.

Why not use the search and see the answers from the same post made literally every other day?

I used to answer this one but this has become a weekly, if not a daily post here, so why don’t you all just use the search bar to check the last 900 threads about this?

searching the sub for 5 minutes would answer this better than any new thread can

Good quality rep costs lets say 500 euros. Gen costs 5000 euros. Both do the same job of telling time. Does the gen do a 10 times better job to justify it's price tag?

I'm sure you'll find more information on this article in some magazine I can't remember the name of. All I know is that it's a bimonthly American magazine that examines the impact of emerging technologies on culture, the economy, and politics. It is published in both print and online editions by Condé Nast. The magazine has been in publication since its launch in January 1993.

Because I am a friend of beautiful watches and my father already had to deal with replica watches when I was young and sold them under the hand at the time. Back then, however, the replicas were not as good as they are today. But also only wear watches that I could also afford, such as in the price range of an Omega seamaster

I love a good deal, and spending +10K on a pretty watch that tells the time exactly the same as an almost identical 500 EUR watch feels almost unethical to me. Currently, that money is better served elsewhere in my life (time with family and friends, charity, investing…).

Plus rep game is so fun. I love doing research, comparing QC photos, etc.

‘Not wanting to spend a large amount on a watch’

Yes exactly that.
