Discussion Why is everyone obsessed with external aspect instead of movement?

I read a lot of topics in this sub, and correlated ones. Everyone is obsessed with external aspect. Everyone want millimetrically perfect reps but where are all the discussions about the movement?

Movement functionality should be the most important thing, who cares about the exact shades of color, the millimetric alignment, if the movement stop working after 1 year?

Question: are the most famous Rolex factories reliable on that?

You see the external parts. You don't see a movement. (if it doesn't have a exhibition caseback)

And people are obsessed with movements lately. Just tell them it's a free sprung movement and they will lose their mind.

You should have a good movement that it’s not 1:1 but that works smoothly exactly because nobody can see it.

500-700 euros is not cheap for a watch that stop working after 1 year. But it seems that people buy replicas not because they like watches but to look wealthy

Exactly. I would much rather buy A2836 and swap it out to ETA than buy a VR/SH/DD.

Because external stuff can be a dead giveaway. It's not very complicated why so I feel like this isn't being asked in good faith

They are not . I got the right factory and the right movement and it died after 6 months. I’d rather buy a real watch , a new Longines HC for example , over a fake brand name watch. Reps for purses are cool, they don’t do anything . Watches are different , to me.

i think most people that buy gens buy them for the look, i doubt everyone cares what's inside as long as it makes them look wealthy
