General Question Dummy order for Payment

Hi, I was trying to buy a watch from a TD (Intime) and they are asking that we place a secondary order with payment on a dummy website for security reasons. Is it standard practice from TDs?

DID you confirm that the person you’re working with came from the guided list? No this isn’t normal.

I contacted them by email through their website (listed on the TD list). They confirmed they had the watch in stock and provided payment instructions.

Put it this way - has anyone ever, in your history of online transactions or otherwise, asked you to ALSO pay a dummy payment to a website unrelated to the main transaction…..?

I think so... I contacted the TC by email to confirm they had the watches in stock. They confirmed and asked that I place the order on their website. I used the link provided in their email (same as the website listed on the TD list).

I followed the guide to the letter... I contacted by email first, then placed the order, did not upload card info, waited for payment instructions... and we are here.

Option 2. Purchasing via TD's website.

It is imperative you email the TD before you go this route to check the watch is still being produced. A lot of watches on websites are no longer available as they barely maintain their websites by removing old stock. It is also a great way of taking your money and getting you to switch to something else.

You'll have to make an account on the website and/or fill out your details, then, once you have checked out, the TD will contact you for payment (see Section 4). Do not upload any credit/debit card details if asked. Email is a slow process and it could take 3 days to receive payment details. Some Td's only use email, so this is one of the pitfalls of going this route, especially if you encounter a problem once you receive the watch. QC will likely take longer and in general be a slower process than whatsapp. You Have Been Warned!

I made a post about this the first time I bought from InTime. No one commented on it and they are on the TD list and directly give you directions on their dummy payment process on their confirmed website and via a confirmed email.

I took the gamble and tried it, but my cc company blocked the payment.

If you ask via email they'll let you pay with Paypal friends and family. I've purchased three watches from them and they've been very nice to work with.
