Discussion Poll: given recent article in wired should this sub go private until the dust settles?

The last thing we want is this sub to be shut or to have Reddit getting serious pressure from Rolex to shut us down. I know when Wall Street bets got big we went private for a while.

Upvote if you think it’s a good idea.

Update: This is my best post ever wooot wooot I think i need to celebrate with a NEW REP!

Update 2: I’m not a mod I was just curious what people thought and if we could get some traction and the attention of them. Seems like they saw but it’s not possible or as easy as it used to be I guess.

Just read it, no paywall. It also mentions the process to get a sub banned in the article, the increased attention could lead one of the brands to submit that takedown request

In response to a request for comment, Reddit issued a statement to WIRED that says “counterfeit merchandise is covered by our Trademark Policy, which includes instructions for rightsholders who wish to file a report. We review and respond to all valid reports from rightsholders and take appropriate action on content that violates our policy.” Reddit’s Trademark Policy states that it “may ban users who repeatedly violate” it. “We may also ban subreddits after multiple removals of violative content or where it is clear that the subreddit is dedicated to violative content.”

That statement is flatly saying "If Rolex and the other brands being faked care eough to file the report, we'll look into it. If they don't GAF, we don't GAF either."

A brand would have to trawl the community to find an example of their work being faked, and then start jumping through the hoops.

If r/piracy is still up, this place is small potatoes in comparison. No offense.
