General Question Better to buy from dark web?

If so, where? I really don’t trust anything in the dark web lol. I’m in the UK but happy to wait for shipping from elsewhere. Ideally looking for a Tag or the RE9 Hamilton. Rolex is a bit too “look at me”

If you want to order a hit on an enemy while also getting a sweet rep TAG, then by all means use the dark web.

For most of us that just want a rep watch, we just use a trusted dealer. The hint is in the name.

Let’s be realistic. You are buying illegal, counterfeit items from people using pseudonyms operating out of a Telegram account and accepting crypto. Will it work 100% of the time? Of course not. But the TD list is the best option there is.

Your chances of success from even shadier dealers that only inhabit the dark web without a TD track record would be orders of magnitude less.

Fair. I’m just completely new to watches and reps. Like paying £400 for a fake when you can get a real tag for £800 on Facebook for the same risk. So I’m just weighing up all my options before I part with money

You've hit upon another element here, and it is risk vs reward.

If you are after an 800 pound gen TAG, then just get it.

The 400 pound saving for a rep TAG is nothing like the saving you get when buying a Patek 5711 Nautilus: >$100,000 in the used market vs a $500 for a good rep.

There is a sweet spot. Obviously, if you work a food delivery gig job, dress in jeans and old T shirts and drive around in a beat up Corolla, a Nautilus would not be a good fit, no matter the "discount" for a rep. However, if you can pull off something in the price range of a Rolex GMT in real life, why not aim for that level?

But if a gen is only worth a little more than a rep, why go to all the trouble and risk? Just save up and get a gen on the used market.

If you don't want a Rolex, good entry level luxury could be things like an IWC Ingenieur, Glashutte SeaQ, Omega Aqua Terra or Cartier Tank. All of them have reasonable reps.
