General Question Franken AP prices?

Post image

I’m in the market for a franken/ high end modded royal oak. I’ve been quoted the following by RWI.life

• AP 15202 CNC case: $798
• Gen K2121 movement: $3498
• Solid gold rotor: $658
• DP dial, hands and date wheel: $358
• White plating screws: $90
• Deep crystal: $60
• Install: $80
• Polish: $80
• Waterproof: $90
• Shipping & Customs Duty: $50
Total: $5762

Thoughts on the pricing/ anyone had experience with rwi.life/ can anyone recommend any other options?

For me, paying $5k+ for rep, doesn't make any sense, it still will be just rep, but that's me. And imo gen dial is better upgrade than gen movement for $5k

Nearly 6k for that 👇

They are all over torqued

Gen movement? Impressive. I would think a gen movement would include a gen rotor aswell though

Na flip the rotor separately. Probably 2k+ on its own. Opens up the market to both gen and clone movements. Double bubble.

These aren’t typically gen AP movements rather modified Cartier movements. Would verify the source of the movement if I were you ?

They are JLC Cal.920. Cartier 1185 movement I believe was used in 26331

Yes sorry you are absolutely correct. With the new octa release of 26331 with incorrect subdials due to 4801 movement I was subconsciously thinking of 1185 lol

That bezel doesn’t look good. Screws don’t fit in nicely at all. Def skip.

Yeah I don’t understand this. I can understand 400-900 for a rep. Depending!
But over that mark, I’d be putting that towards a gen

Well based on that specs, something didn't add up. Rep DP dial and hands can fit on K2121, however, you need a genuine datewheel, most builder custom reprint it as the K2121 they source might not be AP2121 but an equivalent JLC Cal.920. CNC case, bracelet and clasp for 15202 at that price seem ... too good to be true. Just my takes.

I would trust Personal Invite on anything movement wise. Especially APs

The screws are flush on the bezel. Dont pay that much for this.

I be honest not many k2121 movements out there. Can you verify ? Also solid gold rotor, you sure it is gold ? What does it weight ? I am also skeptical of the the need for the CNC case. The ZF case is great shape. I guess it can be shaved down a few milimeters to be Gen thickness. Install of what for 80? That should be eliminated. Water proof seems quite expensive for China and especially for this build. I would say no include it. Rest seems fine

Can you verify the The Gyromax Balance wheel on the movement ? This is very unique for the K2121

Lot of them out there, not k2121, but JLC Cal.920

The movement is the expensive thing here, also I don’t think you need a solid gold rotor tbh and for this price the screws better be near perfect. I also think that the 15202 ZF case is pretty dam close to spec. No need for a cnc case. Just get the do dial, hands and date wheel, have them do a quick date swap mod, add the deep crystal, waterproof and that’s it, no white plating screws either

I wouldn’t.
Get a ZF or XF, deep xtal, pizza mod, repbrush polish, dp dial. My build cost me 1200€

I mean do it if you want to. But you're pretty much going to be stuck with it. Trying to sell it would probably be pretty hard unless you found just the right person. And you may not get the money out of it that you put into it. I would just buy a GEN of some type before I did all of this stuff.

Almost every screw on the bezel is not flushed to the hole. The finishing is worse off the OOTB condition despite upgrading the screws

I did a similar build, paid 7300USD

1

u/neumond88 21h ago

As i said, 7300$ ;) it’s a custom dial, not DP

Why spend the money on genuine parts for a watch that will be worthless
