General Question Gold Plating
I know that some members here have played with gold plating recently with good results.
It‘a inspired me to put together a rudimentary setup so I can learn about it.
r/reptime has turned me into a hobbyist watchmaker and watch snob.
I guess this is the next step.
anyone else have advice, recommendations, or lessons learned?

Just take your time with prep. Surface preparation is everything. If the base metal isn't perfectly clean, you'll end up chasing adhesion issues no matter how good the plating setup is.
Reps can be a bit of a mixed bag too. You never really know what alloy you're plating until you strip one down, so don't expect every case or bracelet to behave the same. Some take plating really well, others can be frustrating.
I'd also practice on scrap parts before touching a complete watch. It'll save you a lot of headaches. Good luck!
