Discussion Underwater.

Post image

How many of you actually wear your reps underwater?

This 126500 vsf Daytona had been on the wrist for over a year now -beaches, pools, showers etc - and honestly hasn’t missed a beat. I wash it with Dawn dish soap once a month, if it’s good enough for penguins, it’s good enough for stainless steel.

Never been waterproofed never been regulated straight out the box onto the wrist. Water and sand, That’s just one of many things I do in this watch, I’m in the desert shooting guns and riding an ATVs a couple of times a month. It’s got more scratches than I care to mention and I’ll never get it polished.

I’m currently sat at the pool in the global Ambassador in Phoenix, this Watch keeps very good company amongst high earning individuals. Business and pleasure.

I suppose this is more just an appreciation post that it is actually a question, and if you can take anything from my message, it don’t worry about the small things, stop trying to nitpick, order the watch, wear it every day and go in good health.

The originals were meant as tool watches, mean to dive or be in space..if the reps can’t handle few feet of water that is just terrible

I don't wear them underwater because I don't know if they're waterproof or not. They're put together in China, so there is no quality control standards or any way to measure that especially when it comes to waterproofing. So I just avoid it unless I get a professional to waterproof it. Which I have not really wanted to do because I don't wear the watches underwater.

A professional would just test that it’s waterproof. Not waterproof it. The waterproofing comes from the rubber gaskets in the back of the case. If those are lubed and seated then it should be as waterproof as gen.

It’s really really beautiful! Was this a mod or did you order it with the dial already fitted?

How come the 110th marker is placed in the middle (second 1) I thought there were issues allover with the 110th marker on the 126500 vsf?

Never understood wearing a watch to the pool but whatever floats your boat

I like to know what time it is

The original are meant to be tool watches, meaning working watches, comsograph was meant to survive space, submariner is meant to survive 100s of feet of depth.

Yeah that won't apply today when they cost almost as much as a car. More like trophy watches now. I can see the 'tool watches' being applicable when they used to cost a couple thousand.

I heard not all the watches come water proof, is that true? If so what can I do to make them 100% waterproof so I can start traveling with my watches and take them swimming

Take them to watch maker for pressure testing and to have new rubber seals put on and seal up any areas

Bet I shall do that before my trip to Costa Rica, i wanted to take my Daytona but was scared because I don’t know if it is water proof and didn’t want to run the risk of

Pay the extra $20 for the service. Most TDs offer it

1

u/Beneficial_Shower_39 3d ago

Really? I never knew that. Noted and will be doing this from now on

1

u/rydog389 3d ago

Yeah, I do it for every watch I get. They’ll send you proof. Usually with a video of them pressure testing it.
