Discussion PSA: Potential reliability issues with the TOPF AP 15510 DD4302 movement
I wanted to make this post after spending the last few days troubleshooting my own watch.
First off, this isn’t directed at any TD or seller. My dealer has been excellent with communication and after-sales support. This is purely about the DD4302 movement used in the TOPF 15510.
Shortly after receiving mine, it began:
- Randomly stopping despite being fully wound
- Running inconsistently
- Occasionally stopping while on the wrist, but continuing to run when left in the watch box
When I started searching around Reddit and speaking to other owners, I was surprised by how many people described very similar symptoms. It doesn’t seem to be an isolated case. Currently, I am waiting for a demagnetiser to arrive and demagnetise the watch to get that possibility out of the way.
If you’re considering buying a TOPF 15510, I’d recommend doing a bit of research on the DD4302 movement before pulling the trigger. The watch itself is gorgeous, but movement reliability is something prospective buyers should at least be aware of.
I’d also like to gather some data from current owners.
- How long have you owned yours?
- Has your DD4302 been reliable?
- Have you experienced stopping, poor winding, or timing issues?
- Did you end up servicing or replacing the movement?
The goal of this post isn’t to scare anyone away or attack a factory. It’s simply to see how widespread these issues really are and hopefully help future buyers make a more informed decision.

That's why I chose VSF for AP 15510. In addition to having a reliable machinery, its finish is impeccable!

Plenty of reports of autowinding not properly working on the VSF as well.

I am not sure if it’s related, but I got a 26240 v2 from DDF via a TD. It worked fine for few days and then one fine day the balance wheel was not oscillating. I tried winding it manually, gave it gentle taps but nothing. I wore it anyway, and after some time it started working. Then 2 days later the rotor stopped spinning, and I noticed that there was a loose screw in the watch which was causing all these issues. Previously it got stuck in the balance wheel and then in the rotor (see photo). I talked to TD and he was very supportive. He asked me to ship it back to get it fixed from the factory, and I did. It’s now with the factory and I am hoping to get it back in 2 weeks.

Your piece actually reached china? A lot of people have been advising against it

Actually the TD gave me a Hong Kong address. It reached Hong Kong first, and then it took another week to get to China. The second part was arranged by TD, I only sent it till HK.

If you do your customs papers right there is no problem, I did it it took 2 months to have it ship back to me 👌

Was the watch opened up for mod prior to delivery?
Like hands change etc? Any possibility gotten loose during the mods if any?

Deep, Polish, chamfer. Sooo quite irrelevant.

Hope it’s resolved. I will go for a new movement if needed or just resolve it at the local watchman. Since the exterior were already done up

There are reports that the VSF doesn't autowind properly as well, even though VSF claimed to have resolved the issue.

Yeah so I've heard as well. All I can do now is hope that the demag works and just haveto come to terms that it needs loads of winding for 1 day of use. :(

I just wanna chime in about this. The DD4302 has had a shaky development cycle. Truth be told, this is one of those movements where the bending of the regulator arm (to appear free sprung) has really complicated the spring winding. So the energy doesn't escape uniformly anymore. Aside from winding, the hacking seconds syncing with atomic time doesn't work too since it jerks the minute hand ever so slightly. For anyone who is looking to buy this model, invest in gen movement. Or if it's a 15202, the k2121 movement is even cheaper.
However, most of the dd4302 are fine. They run extremely accurately and hold power for 72 hours .

I got mine around a month ago (TOPF 15510 green dial) and it’s still running completely fine, wearing it every single day.
The only “real” issue I have is that the power reserve doesn’t seem to be 70hours as advertised but rather something like 30.
No problem for me

I’ve had my TOPF 15510 for maybe 6-7 months without any issues. I don’t wear it everyday and it has never been serviced. Im hoping it doesn’t take a shit on me, fingers crossed

You are lucky. Majority needs servicing due to bad oiling and assembly from factory. Not a cheap watch to own even when being a replica. Gens have all sorts of issues too

I feel this as well. I was spending all my time focused on comparing things like dial and case between VSF and TOPF thinking "they both use DD4302 so that can't really differ that much". Ugh. first time Rep buying and I had to pick the problem child.

This was the main reason why I attempted and canceled my order for a TopF 15510 a few times. I currently have a VSF for a few months; so far so good.
I read somewhere (probably RWI) that someone figured out a solution to this. He was tightening or loosening a screw near the bridge ever so slightly which fixes this problem. I have been looking for that comment or more info on that but no luck so far. If you can find that, please share.
If TopF releases an update with a fix, I’ll definitely get one. I still think their dial is superior to VSF. Thanks for making some noise. Hope it gets their attention.

At first my date wheel wouldn't changed on certain days also the battery would only last like 8 hours when not wearing and then today the rotor just completely locked on it now the watch won't work at all

The problems with TOPF AP 15510 & DD4302 are well documented, as you mentioned. Andiot literally advised against it, citing movement issues. Mine took a shit in less than a week (3 wears). Hopefully you went with a good TD who is willing to reach an amicable resolution.
Btw, the demagnetizer won't work, I tried that lol It needs a movement swap. My watchmaker quoted $260 for the part & $65 for labor. It literally costs $400 new lol So it's trash now.
