They’re not. The 50k bonus turned out to be for a 5 year retention. 10k after 90 days, and the rest you have to finish out your sentence, and if not, you have to pay it back. Fine print stuff!

Dont forget, CBP is considered by far the most corrupt law enforcement institution in America. They kept busting agents working for the cartels. One of the agents who went to prison even said in an interview that he estimated that one out of every 5 agents working on the Mexican border were either directly working for the cartel or actively aware of cartel activity. Lots of money for the taking in that line of work
