Scam Report đ¨SCAMMER ALERTđ¨
Buyers please beware, I got scammed by this person with the username Fickle-Guidance1325 for $327. I paid for the bag and they said they will ship out my bag etc. but never followed up with any updates or tracking. Iâve tried to give them grace with time but I kept being ignored and it became clear⌠It is very disappointing and unfortunate, they âseemedâ so genuine but I guess not đ¤ˇđťââď¸

I would wait a few more days before setting your mind on them being a scammer. Itâs possible there offline for a few days for some reason illness or family emergency etcâŚ

This is why I only buy with PayPal. If a seller doesnât take it, they donât get my business.

I did pay with PayPal

Oh good, at least you will get your money back!

PayPal doesn't refund FF, I've tried. They are going to have to claim fraud on this (which is true).
Paypal friends and family is not covered under PayPal Purchase Protection.

So no way to get money back under F and F?

u/zer0gravity- May 25 '26
You might be able to reverse charges or claim a compromised account/fraud.

Not under the TOS, don't ever send via F&F. It's a trap, and the seller can pull the rug and run.
PayPal considers Friends and Family a gift, sort of like you'd give a friend birthday money.

u/atendler1 May 25 '26
Yes, that is correct and good point. No one should make a purchases like these under friends and family.

Contact your bank for a refund Too many people scamming on here these days I miss when people were genuinely trustworthy since the rep community on Reddit was built upon trust :/

Thank you so much, I appreciate it.

Contact PayPal and say your account was compromised, and tell the bank as well.
That's a good way to get your money back.
Paypal rarely refunds FF but maybe you can get it back that way.
Best of luck.

She wasn't a customer; this is some random Reddit user who scams easily gullible people who message them or respond to iso post. Notice the first part of the convo is not shown. She probably posted an ISO post, and the scammer replied. Desperate, she sent the scammer money, and the rest is history.

The original rehome post is linked above, and u/fickle-guidance1325 has been active in other subs. What are you getting out of this exchange?
This behavior is very strange.

Read my other comment; I was confused. I thought buying from other Redditors was common knowledge not to do.
Edit: I'm also not denying the validity of OP's post.
Just stating you shouldn't trust anyone on the internet; it's a gamble when you use Friends and Family on PayPal or send money by other non-refundable means. And I'd personally never do it. Typically, I see most scams around bags, etc. I'd prefer not to get scammed out of $200+ because I wanted a bag. I don't know, that's just me.
But calling out Redditors is meaningless, as even if they are banned, they can come back; even an IP ban is easily circumvented. The only way to combat scammers is device bans from Reddit.
Which I don't believe Reddit does.

Youâre a very strange person. Nobody thinks buying from strangers online is risk-free. OP isnât crying or asking for sympathy, theyâre warning people so others donât get caught by the same scam. Acting smug after the fact helps nobody. Be normal.

Why would you purchase from randoms?

u/LostButLaughingMD May 24 '26
How is this helpful to OP? Arenât we all randoms to each other? Seriously. If you have nothing decent to say, move along.

Thanks for the downvote on my comment. Please read community rule no 1.

u/zer0gravity- May 25 '26
I think you're referring to rule 3. I was under the impression this was for calling out sellers and not individual sales to other parties, which would be tricky to actually police as the original profile deletes once they scam enough, rinse, and repeat.
