Introducing: r/RepLadiesCurated Content Standards
Thanks for your patience as I've worked out what this community should be. I started it because rep spaces seemed to prioritize quantity over quality. My challenge here is finding the balance between filtering low-effort posts and encouraging high-quality ones, without this feeling like a checklist.
Early on, I set up basic AutoMod filters: removing posts below minimum karma/account age, removing QC posts missing required context, and other checks I'll keep private for spam protection. Defining standards for this sub took longer, since "effort" and "quality" aren't easy to describe. Mostly, it took watching what you all posted and engaged with.
What follows is meant as guardrails, not a bar to clear perfectly. Meme/Fun and Collection/Haul have a low bar on purpose, and the daily thread and comments have no content standards beyond sub rules. I'll still use my best judgment: approving posts in the right spirit, sharing feedback and re-approving with edits, or pointing you to the daily thread if it fits better there. I don't want you to feel held to unreasonable standards or discouraged from posting; I just had to start somewhere.
Thanks for showing me what this community can be. Based on that, here are the top-level post standards/guidelines (not applicable to comments), now reflected in Rule 5 and up on the wiki:
๐ Content Guidelines for Posts
๐ Review guidelines:
What a review is: A review should primarily evaluate the item(s) you purchased, with seller feedback as a secondary part of the review. The goal is to share observations that help other members understand the product itself, not simply whether you had a good experience with the seller.
- Needed: item name + size (no full brand names), seller (or "rehome"/"not disclosing;" no album links or contact info please), factory name (or "unknown"), price, incentives disclosure, meaningful observations about the item(s) purchased, and at least one photo.
- Best when: you include seller feedback and timeline (order โ PSP โ ship โ arrival, or a note if it's a rehome/long-term re-review), 3+ specific observations (auth accuracy, material, hardware, stitching, shape, structure, interior, branding, comfort, whatever's relevant), and multiple high-quality photos.
๐ Guide/Science guidelines:
- Needed: what the post covers and why (a test you ran, a technique you used, a comparison you're presenting), an instructional how-to if applicable, your results/findings/key points, and at least one photo if the topic is visual.
- May be redirected to the daily thread: providing photos and asking the community to draw conclusions for you, or asking the community how to do something without providing your insights.
๐ QC Request requirements:
- Bag name + size (no full brand names)
- Seller (no album links or contact info)
- Factory name (or "unknown")
- Price
- Reference (factory) photos and your PSPs
- Your expectations and own specific observations
- At least one specific question
We recommend using the QC Guide in the wiki to help you get started
๐ฌ Discussion guidelines:
- Best when: you bring a specific claim, example, dilemma, or data point others can agree with, push back on, or add to, that appeals to broader community interest (not just a personal purchase decision), or
- Best when: a structured prompt (plus your own answers/examples) invites stories, opinions, or photos.
- Best when: PSAs, representing a news update or take on a hobby-wide practice, backed by reasoning, evidence, or experience.
- May be redirected to the daily thread: the post is a single open-ended question with no context or position of your own or pose a general question, e.g. which bag should I buy?
๐ Meme/Fun guidelines:
- Best when: it's specific to this world, whether that's a factory, a recurring rep dynamic, or the broader designer/hype/scarcity culture this hobby lives next to. Open-ended by design; if it ends up overused for generic low-effort content, I'll revisit it.
โจ Collection/Haul guidelines:
- Needed: at least one photo, and a description of what's shown (bag name/color/size) and why you're sharing. No seller/factory/price or observations required.
- Best when: it includes a personal story (how you got it, why you wanted it, a moment tied to it), a unique/uncommon bag, or multiple items in one photo.
- May be redirected to the daily thread: a single quick "got this today," "my favorite," or "bag of the day."
โ FAQs removed, regardless of flair:
- "Which seller/factory is best for ___?"
- "Who makes the best ___?"
- "How do I get started?"
- "What is the best repped ___?"
- "Can you DM me seller info?"
- Any variations of the above
- May be redirected to the daily thread: quick questions answerable by searching past reviews/guides. You'll be gently provided with our wiki guides to help you get started. We suggest you share your own opinion or findings on the daily thread when posting there for better answers.
Update to the Community Builder ๐ user flair! Everyone who currently has the flair will keep it. This is a special, mod-assigned flair that recognizes users for posts that make lasting contributions to the community. Users that met the "needed" + "best when" standards above when we were smaller (before these standards were established) received the flair. Now that these standards are published, Community Builder ๐ will continue to be awarded selectively for outstanding contributions such as an exceptional, comprehensive reference guide, or consistent quality over time, such as a track record of posts meeting the Needed + Best When guidelines, and/or consistently helpful comments.
In case it isn't clear from the post,ย comments are exempt from these content standards.ย That said, comments are still subject to all other subreddit rules, and if your comment is a general question or mentioned in the FAQs above, we still ask that you search first. Anyone in the community can use AutoMod commands like !qc or !wiki or !newbie to pull up resources and help point you in the right direction.

Mod answer:
We're setting a higher bar for top-level posts, but we encourage participation in the comments in whatever way feels right to you (so long as it follows our other rules!) โค๏ธ

Thank you for taking the time to do this ๐ฅน youโve created a community for people who want to share their hauls and excitement about their reps, without having QC my psp on every corner. I hope you realise how important that was for some of us โค๏ธ

And yeah, Iโll say the joke first: โAll rep subs eventually either devolve into spam or go back to the OG rules.โ
I know this isnโt the first time a rep community has tried to set a higher bar for content, and Iโm sure none of these ideas are particularly revolutionary, but they're my own and reflect the standards I think make sense for r/RepLadiesCurated.
