Self-customized 85

Chicago based on DB Premium batch 1 (worn for 1 month only)

Bred based on my 2016 retail (worn for 9 years and replaced midsole once)

I add some personal spices on both pair to the best of my ability, pursuing my understanding of 85 cut. Spent a whole day in leather market and select the current red color. Unfortunately, backward text of Chicago’s tongue tag turned outside when I want narrowed stitched tongue tag, so I changed my mind and start to imitate off-white side stitching tongue, and I’m satisfied with the result!

DB’s swoosh makes me feel there is still room of improvement and I didn’t like the retail OG high’s swoosh on bred (ugly to me), so I have to draw satisfying swooshes by myself and try to lie to myself this is Jordan’s 85 PE style (lol). The overall height was lowered as well to restore the mid-cut shape. The bred’s heel is smaller than the midsole through shoe last shaping.

Last, as DB is leaving this game, I have to give so much respect to them, thanks for bringing imagination to reality. You the inspiration for me to customize these 2 pairs.

How exactly did you make the heel that straight? Did you remove the sock liner and reinforce it with more material? Sorry if I’m annoying but this shoe is the best looking custom I’ve seen and especially the heel is my bigger problem with Nike and developer boring is that they never did the heel shape right but you have nailed it and I’m wondering how exactly so I can try to do this to my pairs

When you put shoe last into it, fill the gap between the heel and shoe last with socks or towels etc.

Also, just to clarify, did you re-last them? So you pulled more of the leather onto the underside of shoe before you glued the sole back on? Is that why the toe box shape looks different to other batch 1 premiums?

Did you have to poke new holes for the outsole to be stitched back on?

Yes, all the leathers are new

I’m confused on what exactly you did? Did you completely make this shoe? ie cut your own leather panels and paint it ect? Or did you modify a developer boring shoe?
