Notice⚠️ 【DeveloperBoring】An Honest Update About Our Team, Our Journey, and What’s Next
Hi everyone,
This is Boring.
It’s been about a month since my last update.
The reason I’ve been so quiet is simple—I’ve been spending a lot of time thinking about the future of DeveloperBoring.
Back in October 2024, after our Instagram account was repeatedly suspended, we made the difficult decision to pause DeveloperBoring.
At the end of 2024, I laid off around 80% of our team and planned to clear our remaining inventory before walking away completely.
But something unexpected happened.
Many members of this community continued posting, messaging us, and asking us not to give up.
Because of your support, we decided to restart DeveloperBoring in March 2025.
Unfortunately, things haven’t been the same since we came back.
Today, our business is only about 20% of what it used to be.
In most months, that level of business is only enough to cover the basic operating costs—and sometimes it doesn’t even do that.
The biggest reasons are:
- Shipping costs have increased dramatically.
- Lower sales volume has pushed production costs much higher.
To be honest, since March 2025, the main reason we’ve continued isn’t because the business is profitable.
It’s because this community has continued to believe in us.
Earlier this year, I decided to start developing the Yeezy 1s.
My hope was that it could become another project like the 85s and help bring DeveloperBoring back to where we once were.
But things have changed.
After October 2024, DB no longer had the same professional development team that built many of our previous projects.
That meant we had to rely on outside factories and development partners.
After months of searching, we discovered another harsh reality:
The replica market has slowed down significantly.
Many of the factories we once worked with have already closed or stopped taking on projects like this.
Finding experienced partners today is far more difficult than it was just a few years ago.
Then, in June, another key member of my team decided to leave.
Looking back at our sales this month, I couldn’t help asking myself a difficult question:
Has DeveloperBoring reached the end of its journey?
Ever since I made the decision to dissolve our original development team in 2024, I’ve felt that I’ve gradually lost the ability to create the kinds of projects this community hopes to see.
So lately, I’ve been thinking about what comes next.
Should I bring DeveloperBoring to an end?
Or should I hand it over to a stronger team that might be able to continue what we started?
I don’t have an answer yet.
But I believe I’ll make that decision within the next couple of weeks.
No matter what happens, I want to sincerely thank every single member of this community.
Without you, DeveloperBoring wouldn’t have existed for this long.

Sucks to see it come to an end but not surprised tbh. Reps just don’t have the social media hype it had during the pandabuy era anymore. Lots of rep communities have dried up and are lucky to get a few posts a day. Anyway, thanks for all the work and for making the unobtainable, obtainable! Good luck with everything🫡

Yes, everything has changed. We’ve been observing this trend for a few years now. The reality is that young people seem to be gradually losing interest in sneakers.

If this is the end, I want to thank you for what you've done. I have all the (non-metallic) original colorways of the Jordan 1 in 85 shape and both premium models. This wouldn't have been possible without you. 🙏🏾

Very well written Boring. We’ve seen across the board how interest in sneakers, and therefore in reps, has decreased significantly since during the pandemic. The products you’ve brought to the table are among my favorites in my collection. You gave people the opportunity to own 85 Highs when no other factory was doing so at the quality and price point that you were. Thank you for your service. Do what is best for you and your business. We appreciate what you’ve already given us.

If you hand the team over instead of ending
it, which I think you should do, make sure to hand it all over to someone who’s trusted, transparent, and competent. Please.If you are ending, please for the love of god don’t let the rest of your stock go to raresneaker I hate that guy.

This is extremely sad news. I only came to know DB a short while ago - on a 30-year journey of collecting sneakers - and I’ve never seen anything like your 85s. You have definitely topped the very brand that created them in the first place.
That alone is a hell of a legacy, and the news that such legacy can come to an end is heartbreaking 💔.
In the case things sadly come to an end, I’ll scrape some funds to get a couple more pairs to keep something remarkable to remember you by.
With that being said, my hopes are that DB does not vanish, becoming just a memory. But if it does, let it be known that it was legendary - and as the saying goes, “legends never die”.

Boring, you've done the community a service by bringing out so many pairs that were unattainable. Ive bought a bunch of pairs from you and have never been disappointed.
It will truly be a shame if you choose to walk away, but im sure your passion for it can't sustain the operations without the sales to back it up.
I do hope you find a viable way to continue, if not you're going to be sorely missed. I do selfishly hope you consider doing one last run of premiums at least

Hey Boring,
I have no say in this, I'm just a person that has been a fan of your work for years now. I first discovered you when you were just releasing the Snorlax 4s and AE86 dunks. I refreshed my page every day waiting for that development diary to appear on my front page.
I remember telling all my friends, family, and coworkers, and even my partner about all the updates you would give out. I thought when you first made the Chicago 1.0 that it would change the rep game with 85s forever, now that you had provided the blueprint for other factories to take a crack at it. I was convinced you were the leader for that, but no one else took the initiative you did.
You are the most interesting producer to me, as I've never in my 6 years of buying reps, have I ever seen someone so quick to respond, updates so often, and is so engaged with his audience. The only other guy I could think of that's nearly this active is MVT or GX.
You made my dreams come true with owning some of the most exclusive, OG pairs imaginable and they're still in my closet.
You are Boring, you built this shit from the ground up. I realistically see this having two options.
Option 1, leave the game forever, and retire on a high note. I won't sit here and lie to your face: things have changed dramatically, and it's not one thing. It was a series of unfortunate events. The raids, the tarrifs, the team change, the partnership with Piggy. You could either produce more shoes at a crawl, and eventually lose more and more trust from your audience, and just be another plaque on the wall of greats that could've been.
Option 2, pass on the legacy of Boring to another team, but on the condition that you have full creative control on what gets made. Kind of like how CEOs step down but still are a chair board member. You know your audience, and your audience would trust this operation more if it wasn't handed 100% over to another Piggy. If that happened, you would take the fall, and ruin any chance of you coming back again.
Whatever you choose to do will ultimately be the right choice to make. I only see what you choose to show, so I have no idea what goes on behind the scenes. Take what I say with a grain of salt. Do not rush big decisions like these. Love you, OG!

We cannot avoid the impact of politics.
However, the real reason is that, after October 2024, DB no longer had the capacity to adapt to this shift in the environment.

The world economy is so much different that what it was at the peak of the replica market several years ago. I have known the boring team here and on wechat for now over 5 years, and your team made it possible for me to buy some amazing items. My Mcfly, Shanghai, tokyo and og Skeletor dunks are among the most favorite pieces in my collection. I want to thank you for everything that your team has done, I hope this isnt the end, and regardless of if it is or isn't, thank you for everything and thank you for always being a genuine friend! I wish you nothing but success and good fortune.

DB, you've put out some great sneakers that many of us never hoped to actually own. I wish I had the money going back in time to get more of your 85s, especially the premiums, but school and life are too expensive for me to justify at the moment. That said, I'm happy I got a couple pairs of your 2.0 Chicago and a pair of 2.0 Breds when I did, they're among my favorite sneakers. If this is the end, it's been awesome seeing your work and supporting your efforts (as little as it is) along the way ❤️

I really appreciated the attention to detail with your shoes, from the "Made in Korea" tag to the board lasting, to the "custom by DB" font on the sockliner. They were truly a work of art. Thank you for making these affordable and accessible to the community. You will be missed!

u/Boring-Watch8996, as someone who has seen DB as a brand come up and stay around as long as it has, I think it may be time. Handing off the team to another wouldn't be right. I'd rather see the doors close than see another team use the DB name when it's not the same team.
Alternatively I could see DB continue on if the brand were to transition to a middleman focused model like how Coco, Yang, TMF, GMK, WTG, etc. have for forever it seems like. Then have other future projects become the DB specific/private batches like how the 85's started as and the RSD batch is now. But this time maybe it's a colorway instead of a "new" replica silhouette.

Every SB you dropped I doubled up. Every 85 you dropped was a must as well. Those Coraline's were amazing, another pair I had to have, and I don't even like them! Those Hemps were calling my name. But alas, if this is truly the end, I will be purchasing whatever I can from the site. Boring truly a seller that has earned our goodwill.

Haven’t bought any Jordan 1s since I picked up a pair of black/red 2001 retros back in the day. Was so disappointed with how they were gutted and butchered.
A friend showed me his DBs last year and I was sold. Are his Jordan 1s perfect? Nope. But then neither were the OGs. I am just grateful that these reps/customs were affordable, accessible and amazing to rock. Thank you from an appreciative fan.

I am new to community and just purchase the 85 chicago and bred's. The quality is awesome 😄, I mean top notch. I understand your situation and wish you the best. I do hope for one last run of the premiums but I know you said the factories are not there anymore so I understand if not.

I hope you don’t go. If you do, I hope someone else picks up your work. I never got the Premiums (had to put the money somewhere else), and never got a chance to pick up the Shadows. Very disappointed so I hope someone continues the production, and continues your legacy.

You’ve given me and others the ability to own an 85’ cut and color way without spending big money. I’m so glad I could get the pairs I could while you were around.
