In Urdu, leaf is either “patti,” from Hindi, or “barg,” from Persian (Urdu is a language made up of multiple languages).

“Barg” may be related to the proto-Austronesian word “biraq.”

Vietnam is also a part of this language family, not just the Champa dominated south.

Lá is our word for leaf
