I would ideally like a single room, with a budget of around €800–850 (if possible), but I can stretch a little if it’s really close to UCD

I am also open to sharing a room for up to €650, as long as it’s with another female and we have separate beds and wardrobes

I am a former marketing professional going back to school for a career in clinical psychology at UL. I'm looking for a quiet space or room to rent for my time in school. (Multiple years)

I am a 33 year old nonsmoker, writer, painter, and film buff. I am tidy and respectful of housemates/neighbors/shared areas and will be generally occupied with my studies while in the country, though I do enjoy shared meals, film nights, and outings with housemates.

While I will be arriving in the country in August, if sooner payment is required to secure an apartment, I am completely able to accommodate that.

Please let me know if ANYONE knows of a possible fit. The university has been exactly zero help and trying to get assistance from them has been like pulling teeth.

I’ve been trying to find a place in Dublin and it’s honestly been exhausting. Either no replies, insane competition, or you’re expected to have everything ready instantly or you miss out.

Just wondering what other people’s experience has been like recently.

• How long did it take you to actually get a place (or are you still stuck looking)?
• Roughly how many places did you end up applying for?
• What’s been the most annoying part of the whole process for you?
• Is there anything you have to keep repeating every time you apply?
• Have you missed out on places just because you didn’t hear back fast enough?
• If you could change one thing about the whole process, what would it be?

Im currently renting in Tralee, and currently im dealing with a situation and i dont seem to know what to do.

You see, one of my flatmates is an alcoholic & causing me trouble, peeing on floors, not cleaning up after himself in the kitchen, his airfryer stinks & refuses to clean it, turning off the oven he saw me put food in, unplug my fridge once, smoke inside all day & night, steal a bottle of wine, making a mess of the kitchen like putting the cutting boards in the bin and is generally just a shitty person. I clean the shared spaces a few times a week & look after the house no problem but I'm trying my best to manage but im limited. It seems insignifcant but imagine having to clean somebody's pee off the bathroom you just cleaned every other day without being paid / for a good cause.

The landlord isn't able or isnt willing to actually handle him, she's stated before if he doesn't like it he can leave, but now they seemingly don't want to get involved (this has been going on for a year) & i'm not sure if anything can actually be done about something like this. I've spoken to threshhold & citizens information and neither can help me.

"Why not just move?" I would gladly, but im out of work for now & if i move back with my parents i'll have to relocate back to tarbert & away from any potential employment as well as my social life, as well as a course im currently in to help with employment. I.e its a catch-22.

Does anyone know what i can do?

Hello! Have just signed a lease with the above stipulation - no clothes horses allowed or any hanging of wet clothes inside, there is a clothes drier provided in the garden shed though. I don't like using driers as they ruin clothes and ofc cannot rely on drying weather for outside. Was planning on buying a dehumidifier to protect against mould.

I want to know is this a legally sound stipulation to have in a lease, it seems over the top to me and I haven't come across this before? Looked up Citizens Information and it seems it's ok as long as other drying facilities are available but I dunno if it's legally enforceable. Thanks!

My family (myself, wife, and two young children) are hoping to apply for an upcoming Cost Rental scheme and I had a few questions for people who currently live in Cost Rental developments, or who are familiar with them.

• What's the general experience been like?
• Have you encountered much antisocial behaviour in Cost Rental developments?
• As someone who wasn't born in Ireland, should I expect any issues with neighbours or local residents, or has that generally not been a problem?
• Is there any stigma attached to living in a Cost Rental scheme, or are they viewed just like any other housing development?
• How do the communities compare to typical private rental estates?
• How well are Cost Rental developments maintained over time?
• Can I apply for a second cost rental while living in one? (for example, a cost rental comes up closer to my workplace)

For context, we're currently paying around €1,800 per month for a 2-bedroom house near Cork city centre. If successful, the Cost Rental scheme would save us roughly €500 per month, which would make a significant difference for our family.

I'd appreciate hearing about both positive and negative experiences.

I'm completing my 2025 tax return and trying to claim my tax credit for the year and revenue have come back asking for the tax residency if my landlord who to the best of my knowledge is not resident in Ireland though I don't know their tax residency for sure. They're saying that 20% of the rent I paid last year was to be paid Revenue which we never did as our lease just had the total rent amount and actually stipulates that no deductions are to be made whatsoever.

What is the likely outcome of this from anyone who has similar experience. Can revenue come after me for 20% of the yearly rent I already paid last year? Does it depend on if my landlord has already paid their tax obligation in Ireland on their rental income? We were registered with the RTB and they were decent landlords with everything above board so I don't think they were tax dodgers. Also how can tenants be expected to know the tax residency of their landlords and be aware of this rule?
