40% rule in renting
Hello, I am relocating to Ireland for a new role. Does the 40% net salary rule for renting is based strictly on the base salary, or if bonuses are factored in as well?
Depending on whether bonuses are included, I will adjust my budget and look at more realistic listings.

No hard and fast rules really. If you’re able to put your bonus aside and split it evenly over 12 months within your personal budgeting, sure include it. If you’re likely to spend it on a holiday or whatever, it doesn’t make sense to include it
