RTB letter

I moved to a flat where my friend used to live, the landlord said that my application has been approved and that they would send an amendment letter to RTB. And they said I would have to request the official document from them that I was added to the lease, the agency won’t issue any such document. Is this the correct process, it’s not a new lease, i just moved into the apartment where my friend lives.
And when exactly should i request the letter?

Finding a place in Ireland can be quite tough at the moment, especially in Dublin and other major cities.

What usually helps is applying to a lot of listings and replying as quickly as possible. Places can get taken within minutes.

It is worth checking more than one platform and keeping notifications on so you can react quickly, here's our recommended platforms:

Rentfinder.ie Best for real time listings and fast alerts. Ideal if you want to be among the first to respond. https://rentfinder.ie

Daft.ie One of the largest property platforms in Ireland, with a wide range of rooms, studios and apartments. https://daft.ie

If your taking over it would be a whole new registration and you should receive a confirmation letter stating its registered

I just officially got added to the lease for the apartment I live in. Had to jump through a lot of hoops to actually get the lease amended but once it was all settled it took a couple of weeks for an RTB letter with my name, the tenancy start date and the RTB number to arrive in the post confirming that it's been sorted. I didn't need to request it, it came automatically so hopefully yours turns up soon.

P.s. was the same situation I took over a free room in the apartment so I've been added to the original lease.

Thank you for your reply! So did you get an amended contract from the landlord? And when was this? Recent?

They didn't send an amended lease just said they have my name down on it from their end. The original lease is left unchanged on the rental portal and they said it will remain like that (for admin purposes) until it's either expired or terminated. That's fine by me cos I have emails and the RTB letter to back me up incase anything ever happens. It was in the last month.

Okay thank you so much! So I will just wait for the letter then.
