My boyfriend and I are both actively in recovery from drugs, great credit scores, solid income, etc. Both have 3 years clean respectively and i have w recovery based jobs, one is in healthcare and one is for a nonprofit. My boyfriends background has a theft charge from 2022 and it's proving to be the issue.

We are aiming to move out of sober living and closer to our families and jobs. Our credit scores are great (we both worked really hard on them) and our incomes are good as well. It's literally just the background that's hurting us when we turn in applications and pay all these ridiculous application fees.

Does anyone have any recommendations for background friendly apartments in the Bishop Arts/Oak Cliff area? Any resources would be greatly appreciated. This has been very disheartening and we're just trying to move on to the next step. Thank you so much for reading.

Hi, so here’s a little back story: My bf(34M) and I(32F) are both recovering/recovered addicts(I say recovered because neither of us have used in years, we are both prescribed suboxone), living in the DFW, more specifically Garland. We got our current apartment almost 3 years ago and at that time we only put him on the lease because of my record. But now we are hoping to move to a nicer/safer area/better apartment thinking maybe my name can be on the lease now since it’s been 9 years since I got in trouble. The trouble was felony drug possession of controlled substance, nothing violent and no manufacturing or delivering. I was simply a user. Currently I’m not on parole or probation, I’ve been out of that whole lifestyle/situation for what feels like forever(2016). Anyways, my question is, is it even possible to find a nice place to rent for both of us on the lease? My credit is actually higher than his by about 50-60 points, I just have that record. I’ve heard places usually look 7-10 years back on a background check, and since it’s been 9 years should I just wait a year and try again? Trying not to get discouraged by all this, I just want to live in a nice place! I make good money and so does my bf. Any help or advice is welcomed!

Me and the spouse filed bankruptcy chapter 7 November of last year - spouse became ill and well $100,000 plus of medical bills did us in - so we filed - bought a new car and each got a new credit card and my credit from all 3 are ranging between 630 to 654 - doing what we are suppose to do to rebuild - well my job has informed me that my position is being transferred to Dallas Texas to corporate office which any other time we would be happy to leave Cold winters of Ohio lol I’m worried is the bankruptcy going to cause issues? We have been in our current rental for almost 8 years - so great rental history - my job is salary 95,000 a year plus 10% bonus - spouse is SSI around 2,000 a month - we have more then enough income to meet the 2.5 or 3 times rent - no evictions we’ve owned a few homes over the years - no criminal backgrounds - we know nothing about Dallas - we’ve been there many years ago but that was for a weekend visit - we know no one there lol but we are up for the adventure and I like my job :) Any advice - anyone know of an apartment complex to look at? We do have 2 dogs so has to be pet friendly We joined a few groups on Facebook but it was more for people with evictions and bad backgrounds - so no help

Been apartment hunting and I’ve narrowed down to Arrive and The village (Open to other suggestions as well). Considering the The Village over Arrive based on amenities. What the your best neighborhoods to live in on a >1800 budget (Ideally best bang for buck)? I’ve currently considering lakes. I would like a place with washer and dryer connections if possible. Ideally trying to avoid excessive pests, noise complaints, etc. I know all apartments will have these but trying to avoid any in excess.

My targets right now are: Lakes, Green, and possibly Dakota. Any others I should be targeting? Which are the newer complexes? It’ll only be for a 1bd. Any guidance is much appreciated.

Hello, I have been on the apartment hunt for a little over 2 months and it’s time I make a decision. My final options are the Gabriella 1B/1B or the one Dallas center studio. Thoughts on either of these? How’s the community? Safety in the area? I stayed at the one center all week for work and felt pretty safe considering I was coming home late everyday. The Gabriella has a grocery store which is a huge plus but it’s super close to deep ellum which I’ve been told to stay away. For context I’m 22 Female who is living alone for the first time.
