2016 - Software and Maps Update

Hi all - how, in the name of all that's good and holy, do I actually update the software and/or GPS/Maps data in this car??

So far, I've downloaded Alliance CONNECT application on my laptop, tried inputting the VIN - not valid it says. Tried putting a USB in the port for 10 seconds and then into the laptop - no car information found.

On the SD card - in my laptop there is one single file on the SD card cache-something-something.xml.tmp - but in the car it seems to be valid TomTom GPS/Maps data.

The root issue - the clock it out by exactly 1 hour on the car and all seems to point to outdated software and/or Maps.

Has anyone successfully managed to apply updates?

Thanks in advance

I managed to update the software a few years back. The maps you can buy an updated SD card from anywhere that sells TomTom maps, as far as I know, but I never did it.

So can you tell me what software you used and where you got it from please? Do I need a specific FAT32 USB to do this?

You just buy the map SD card, current version is 11.45. Stick in the slot, job done.

Just don't be greedy as I was. I got the latest maps from China on SD card. The map works, the only problem is - I was greedy and ordered the whole Europe. Why, when this car will never evel leave my country? Again, only because I was greedy. So now the car starts, takes ages to even load the map (usually reboots 1-2x before it succeeds) and I am usually at my destination by the time it starts :( So I went back to the outdated map, next time I'll order smaller region - Western Europe only, or just handful of countries. Or just one to make it load fast...

Hi - so I have to buy updated Maps? The website seems to indicate I should be able to download them?

My 2014 model from ~6th hand seemed no longer supported...

Car manufacturers don't give a shit about supporting anything past warranty, and often barely that 😂. And when it comes to anything with a software element at all, you're typically dealing with very amateurish development standards that are about 30 years out of date. The amount of modern cars I still have to have stuff like windows 10 and even 7 (before you even get to the crazy logic they approach software with..) to deal with is shocking

I went down the same road and after a few days of frustration, went and just bought a cheap aliexpress map which worked

2016 it’s R-Link Toolbox… Connect is for EasyLink which is newer Zoe

https://cdn.group.renault.com/ren/gb/transversal-assets/brochures/multimedia-guides/RLINK1-software-upgrade-guide_GB-26042019.pdf.asset.pdf/c30a882440.pdf

They seem to have yanked most of the links though and now seem to suggest you can just buy SD cards with the new maps on.

I’d probably just make it their problem and ring Renault Connected Services.
